uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / parallelism

בָּרֲכִ֣י נַ֭פְשִׁי אֶת־יְהוָ֑ה וְכָל־קְ֝רָבַ֗י אֶת־שֵׁ֥ם קָדְשֽׁוֹ

(Some words not found in UHB: of,David bless my_soul_of,my DOM YHWH and=all parts_of,my_inward DOM name_of his_holiness_of,his )

The phrases Bless Yahweh, my soul and all of my inward parts, the name of his holiness mean basically the same thing. The second emphasizes the meaning of the first by repeating the same idea with different words. Hebrew poetry was based on this kind of repetition, and you may want to show this to your readers by including both phrases in your translation. If it is helpful, you could connect the phrases in a way that shows that the second phrase is repeating the first one, not saying something additional. Alternate translation: [Bless Yahweh, my soul! Yes, all of my inward parts, bless the name of his holiness]

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy

נַ֭פְשִׁי

(Some words not found in UHB: of,David bless my_soul_of,my DOM YHWH and=all parts_of,my_inward DOM name_of his_holiness_of,his )

David is using the term soul to mean his entire person from the perspective of his spiritual and emotional existence. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use an equivalent expression or plain language. Alternate translation: [myself] or [my inner being]

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / ellipsis

אֶת־שֵׁ֥ם קָדְשֽׁוֹ

DOM DOM (Some words not found in UHB: of,David bless my_soul_of,my DOM YHWH and=all parts_of,my_inward DOM name_of his_holiness_of,his )

David is leaving out some of the words that in many languages a sentence would need in order to be complete. You can supply these words from earlier in the verse if that would be clearer in your language. Alternate translation: [bless the name of his holiness]

Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy

אֶת־שֵׁ֥ם קָדְשֽׁוֹ

DOM DOM (Some words not found in UHB: of,David bless my_soul_of,my DOM YHWH and=all parts_of,my_inward DOM name_of his_holiness_of,his )

David is using the term name to refer to Yahweh’s holy person. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [his holy person]

Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy

וְכָל־קְ֝רָבַ֗י

and=all parts_of,my_inward

Here, all of my inward parts represents David’s entire being from an internal perspective. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use an equivalent expression or plain language. Alternate translation: [and everything that I am]
