uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: writing-pronouns

וְהֵ֗מָּה & יְבַקְשׁ֣וּ

(Some words not found in UHB: clings self_of,my after, you (in),me upholds hand_of,your_right )

The psalmist is stating the pronoun they separately, even though the verb translated as they seek already includes this meaning. He is doing that to emphasize that his enemies seek his life. If a speaker of your language would use an explicit pronoun for the same purpose, you may want to use that construction in your translation. If not, your language may have other ways of showing the meaning here. Alternate translation: [But my enemies truly seek]

Note 2 topic: writing-pronouns

וְהֵ֗מָּה

(Some words not found in UHB: clings self_of,my after, you (in),me upholds hand_of,your_right )

The pronoun they refers to David’s enemies, who have not been mentioned previously in this psalm. If it would be helpful in your language, you could clarify this for your readers. Alternate translation: [But those who are my enemies]

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / synecdoche

נַפְשִׁ֑י

(Some words not found in UHB: clings self_of,my after, you (in),me upholds hand_of,your_right )

David is using my life to represent his entire person in the act being killed. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [to kill me]

Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns

לְ֭שׁוֹאָה

(Some words not found in UHB: clings self_of,my after, you (in),me upholds hand_of,your_right )

If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea of devastation, you could express the same idea in another way. Alternate translation: [to destroy me]

Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / euphemism

בְּֽתַחְתִּיּ֥וֹת הָאָֽרֶץ

(Some words not found in UHB: clings self_of,my after, you (in),me upholds hand_of,your_right )

David is referring to death in a polite way by using the phrase the lowest parts of the earth. Depending on what is helpful for your readers, you could use a polite way of referring to this in your language, or you could state this plainly. Alternate translation: [to the grave] or [to Sheol]
