This could mean: (1) that the psalmist is saying where on Mount Zion the city of Jerusalem, and especially the temple and the royal palace, are located. Alternate translation: [on its northern slope, where the city of the great king is] or (2) that the psalmist is using the phrase the recesses of the north in the same way as in [Isaiah 14:13](../isa/14/13.md) to mean the distant north, where pagan nations believe the council of the gods met. The psalmist would be saying that Yahweh is the supreme God who actually rules the council of supernatural beings (as in [89:7](../089/007.md)) from his temple in Jerusalem. Alternate translation: [, the site of Jerusalem, the place from which Yahweh, the great king, rules as the supreme God]
