uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my high tower

(Some words not found in UHB: alone for,God wait_in_silence soul_of,my that/for/because/then/when from=him/it hope_of,my )

The writer speaks of God as if he were a rock and a high tower. Both of these metaphors show how God provides protection from one’s enemies. Here “salvation” means that God rescues the writer. See how you translated this in [Psalms 62:2](../062/002.md).

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive

I will not be moved

(Some words not found in UHB: alone for,God wait_in_silence soul_of,my that/for/because/then/when from=him/it hope_of,my )

If your language does not use the passive form in this way, you can state this in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: “nothing can move me”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

Ps 62 This psalm expresses confidence in the king and offers prayer for him. The king rests in God despite his difficulties. Although his deceptive and powerful adversaries push hard against him, he remains undaunted. He encourages himself and his people to trust in God and to see their human adversaries from God’s perspective, where they appear frail, fleeting, and deceptive (62:9).
