Normally the OET discourages the reading of individual ‘verses’, but this view is only designed for doing comparisons of different translations. Click on any Bible version abbreviation down the left-hand side to see the verse in more of its context. The OET segments on this page are still very early looks into the unfinished texts of the Open English Translation of the Bible. Please double-check these texts in advance before using in public.

TSNTyndale Study Notes:

38:22 Asking the Lord to act quickly in times of great need is common in the Psalter (22:19; 31:2; 40:13; 69:17; 70:1; 71:12; 79:8; 102:2; 141:1; 143:7). However, wisdom and experience teach that God’s people must often wait for him to act (27:14; 37:7; Isa 8:17; 40:31).

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

Come quickly to help me

(Some words not found in UHB: not forsake,me YHWH God,my not far from,me )

God is spoken of as if he is running to the writer to help him.

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns

my salvation

(Some words not found in UHB: not forsake,me YHWH God,my not far from,me )

If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea behind the word salvation, you could express the same idea with a verbal form. Alternate translation: “you are the one who saves me”
