About verse numbering: PSA 30:25

Bible versions divide some chapters and verses differently (called “versification”). PSA 30:25 is valid in the numbering listed below, but is outside the OET-RV / English numbering used for the ordinary parallel pages.

In BrLXX, BrTr (lxx numbering), PSA 30:25 corresponds to OET-RV / English PSA 31:24.

In ClVg, DRA, Wycl (vul numbering), PSA 30:25 corresponds to OET-RV / English PSA 31:24.

The page below is a copy of the ordinary OET-RV / English page; its headings and navigation retain that numbering.

Normally the OET discourages the reading of individual ‘verses’, but this view is only designed as a tool for Bible-translators and others doing comparisons of different translations—the older translations are further down the page (so you can read up from the bottom to trace the English translation history). The OET segments on this page are still early looks into the drafted texts of the Open English Translation of the Bible—please double-check these texts in advance before using in public.

UTN uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom

חִ֭זְקוּ

strong

David is using Be firm as a common expression of the culture to mean “be strong.” If this phrase does not have that meaning for your readers, you could use a comparable expression from your language that does have that meaning, or you could state the meaning plainly as in the UST.

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / yousingular

לְבַבְכֶ֑ם

heart_of,your(pl)

The word your is plural here because David is speaking to all the ones waiting for Yahweh. Use the plural form in your language if your language marks that distinction.

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

וְיַאֲמֵ֣ץ לְבַבְכֶ֑ם

and,let_it_show_strength heart_of,your(pl)

Here the heart represents where a person’s thoughts and feelings exist. You may have a comparable expression in your language, or you could state the meaning plainly as in the UST.

Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit

כָּל־הַ֝מְיַחֲלִ֗ים לַיהוָֽה

(Some words not found in UHB: strong and,let_it_show_strength heart_of,your(pl) all/each/any/every [you,who]_wait to/for=YHWH )

David assumes that readers will know that here waiting refers to waiting on Yahweh to help them. You could say that explicitly if that would be helpful to your readers. Alternate translation: [all the ones waiting for Yahweh to help you]
