uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns

he will give justice to the needy

(Some words not found in UHB: (a)_man slander not established on_the=earth (a)_man violence/cruelty evil hunt_down,him in,thrusts )

If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea behind the word justice, you could express the same idea with a verbal form such as “just.” Alternate translation: “He will act in a just manner to help the needy”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

Ps 140 In this individual lament, the psalmist artistically sketches God’s enemies with all their evil intents. He prays for the Lord’s protection and rescue with confidence in God’s strength and justice. He foresees the evil as being judged by fire (140:9-11) and himself as being vindicated and dwelling in the Lord’s presence (140:13).
