OET (OET-LV)As_for_deeds_of humankind in/on/at/with_word_of lips_of_your I I_have_watched the_paths_of the_violent.

OET (OET-RV)As for people’s actions,
⇔ it is at the word from your lips
⇔ that I have kept myself from the ways of the lawless.

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy

it is at the word of your lips that I have kept myself from the ways of the lawless

(Some words not found in UHB: as_for,deeds_of humankind in/on/at/with,word_of lips_of,your I kept ways_of violent )

Here “the word of your lips” is a metonym for God’s instruction, and “the ways of the lawless” is a metaphor for the things that lawless people do. Alternate translation: “it is by obeying your instruction that I have kept myself from doing the things that lawless people do” or “your instruction has caused me to avoid doing wicked things” (See also: figs-metaphor)

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

Ps 17 The psalmist pleads for God’s protection and vindication, affirms his own integrity, and prays that the Lord will prevail against his fierce enemies.
