The pronouns Their and them refer to the heavens. It may be helpful to clarify this for your readers. Alternate translation: [The heaven’s line … the heaven’s words … in the heavens] or [The line of the heaven’s … the words of the heaven’s … in the heavens]

The Septuagint (an ancient Greek translation of the Hebrew Bible) and the Peshitta (the Syriac translation of the Bible) read “Their voice” instead of “their line.” That may have been the original reading, particularly since it would then make this line a parallelism with the second line in the verse with “Their voice” and their words being parallel ideas. At one point in the process of transmission, scribes may have accidentally left out the additional Hebrew letter that would have spelled “Their voice” rather than Their line. If a translation of the Bible exists in your region, you may wish to use the reading that it uses. If a translation of the Bible does not exist in your region, you may wish to use the reading of the ULT.

David is speaking of the heavens as if they were living things that could speak words. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [and they display God’s glory to the end of the world]

David assumes that readers will know that their words to the end of the world refers to the message that the heavens proclaim about God’s glory and to the end of the world refers to the furthest extremities of the earth. You could say that explicitly if that would be helpful to your readers. Alternate translation: [and their message to the furthest extremities of the earth] or [and their message to the most remote parts of the earth]

David is speaking of the heavens as if they were a tent for the sun. He means that God has placed the sun in the skies. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use an equivalent expression from your culture or state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [He has placed the sun in the heavens] or [He has put the sun in the skies]
