The psalmist is speaking as if his soul had actually bowed itself down and as if it were actually clamoring or making noises within him that indicated how upset it was. He is describing his own inner feelings of despondency and agitation. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [Why do I feel so despondent and agitated inside]

The psalmist is using the question form to give himself a mild rebuke and to encourage himself to consider his situation from a different perspective and so come to feel differently about it. If a speaker of your language would not use the question form for that purpose, you could translate this as a statement or as an exclamation. Alternate translation: [I do not have to feel so despondent and agitated inside!]

The word that the ULT translates as Wait can mean simply not to do something until a certain time has passed or a certain other event has occurred. However, in many biblical contexts, it means to expect that God will do something to change an unfavorable situation that a person cannot change or that a person therefore should not try to change himself, and that is the meaning here. You may be able to use a different term to express this meaning in your language. Alternate translation: [Hope in God] or [I can hope in God]
