uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: writing-pronouns

וַאֲנַ֤חְנוּ ׀ נְבָ֘רֵ֤ךְ

and,we bless

The psalmist is stating the pronoun we separately, even though the verb translated as we will bless already includes this meaning. He is doing that to emphasize the contrast between the living and the dead. If a speaker of your language would use an explicit pronoun for the same purpose, you may want to use that construction in your translation. If not, your language may have other ways of showing that meaning here. Alternate translation: [But as for us, we will bless]

Note 2 topic: translate-names

נְבָ֘רֵ֤ךְ יָ֗הּ

bless Yah

The word Yah is a shortened form of the name “Yahweh.” Alternate translation: [we will bless Yahweh]

Note 3 topic: translate-transliterate

הַֽלְלוּ־יָֽהּ

praise Yah

The words Hallelu Yah are Hebrew words, containing a plural command to praise Yahweh. You will need to decide if you will use these words in their Hebrew form or if you will instead translate the meaning into your language. Either approach has broad support. If you use the Hebrew words, you could spell them the way that they sound in your language and then put the translation in a footnote. Alternate translation: [Halleluia] or [Praise Yah]
