The psalmist assumes that his readers will know that here ornament refers to “trappings”, functional pieces that are used on horses and mules in order to guide and restrain them. The implication of the phrase ornament of him to curb is that a horse or mule must be controlled by these trappings in order to guide and restrain (or curb) them. You could include this information if that would be helpful to your readers. Alternate translation: [his trappings must restrain him]

A bit and bridle is a kind of harness that fits around a horse’s head and includes a metal bar that goes in its mouth. If your readers would not be familiar with what a bit and bridle are, you could use more general terms as in the UST or explain them in a footnote.
