uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / rquestion

מִי־חָכָ֥ם וְיִשְׁמָר־אֵ֑לֶּה

who? wise (Some words not found in UHB: who? wise and,let_him_observe these and,let_them_consider_carefully steadfast_love_of YHWH )

The psalmist is using the question form for emphasis. If a speaker of your language would not use the question form for that purpose, you could translate this as a statement or as an exclamation. Alternate translation: [May whoever is wise keep these things]

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

וְיִשְׁמָר־אֵ֑לֶּה

(Some words not found in UHB: who? wise and,let_him_observe these and,let_them_consider_carefully steadfast_love_of YHWH )

Here the psalmist is speaking as if Yahweh’s actions that he has been describing were objects that a wise person can keep. He means for every wise person to think about these things. Your language may have a comparable expression that you can use in your translation, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [Then may he keep thinking about these things] or [Then may he remember these things]

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / genericnoun

וְיִשְׁמָר

(Some words not found in UHB: who? wise and,let_him_observe these and,let_them_consider_carefully steadfast_love_of YHWH )

The psalmist is not referring to a specific wise person by saying may he keep. He means wise people in general. If it would be helpful to your readers, you could use an expression that would be more natural in your language. Alternate translation: [Then may they keep]

Note 4 topic: writing-pronouns

וְ֝יִתְבּֽוֹנְנ֗וּ

and,let_them_consider_carefully

The pronoun they refers to people who are wise. These are the same people who are referred to as he in the first part of this sentence. Use a way that is natural in your language to indicate that this refers to the same wise people. Alternate translation: [and may all wise people ponder]

Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns

חַֽסְדֵ֥י יְהוָֽה

steadfast_love_of YHWH

If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea of covenant faithfulness, you could express the same idea in another way. Alternate translation: [the ways that Yahweh is faithful to his covenant with his people]
