uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

הַסְתֵּ֣ר פָּ֭נֶיךָ מֵחֲטָאָ֑י

(Some words not found in UHB: you,will_cleanse_me_from_sin with,hyssop so,that_I_may_be_pure you,will_wash_me and,more,than_snow whiter )

David is speaking as if he wanted God to position his face so that it would not be visible from the place where his sins were. Effectively this means that he wants God not to look at his sins. However, he does not mean that he wants God to leave his sins in place but not regard them. He wants God to make his sins nowhere to be seen; that is, he wants God to forgive the sins so that it is as if he had not committed them. Alternate translation: [Make my sins nowhere to be seen]

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

וְֽכָל־עֲוֺ֖נֹתַ֣י מְחֵֽה

(Some words not found in UHB: you,will_cleanse_me_from_sin with,hyssop so,that_I_may_be_pure you,will_wash_me and,more,than_snow whiter )

See how you translated the same image in verse 1. Alternate translation: [and forgive all of my iniquities]
