uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / parallelism

יִשְׁמְר֣וּ חֻ֭קָּיו וְתוֹרֹתָ֥יו יִנְצֹ֗רוּ

(Some words not found in UHB: in=account_of keep decrees_of,his and,laws_of,his observe praise Yah )

These two phrases mean basically the same thing. The second emphasizes the meaning of the first by repeating the same idea with different words. Hebrew poetry was based on this kind of repetition, and you may want to show this to your readers by including both phrases in your translation. If it is helpful, you could connect the phrases in a way that shows that the second phrase is repeating the first one, not saying something additional. Alternate translation: [they might keep his statutes, that is, comply with his laws]

Note 2 topic: translate-transliterate

הַֽלְלוּ־יָֽהּ

praise Yah

The words Hallelu Yah are Hebrew words, containing a plural command to praise Yahweh. You will need to decide if you will use these words in their Hebrew form or if you will instead translate the meaning into your language. Either approach has broad support. If you use the Hebrew words, you could spell them the way that they sound in your language and then put the translation in a footnote. Alternate translation: [Halleluia] or [Praise Yah]

Note 3 topic: translate-names

יָֽהּ

Yah

Yah is a shortened form of the name “Yahweh,” the God of Israel. You could use the full name if that would be helpful to your readers. Alternate translation: [Yahweh]
