OET (OET-LV)Sustain_me according_to_of_your_message so_that_I_may_live and_do_not put_me_to_shame from_my_of_hope.

OET (OET-RV)Sustain me like you promised you would, so that I may live
⇔ and don’t make me ashamed of my expectation.

uW Translation Notes:

Sustain me by your word

(Some words not found in UHB: sustain,me according,to_of,your_word so,that_I_may_live and,do_not put,me_to_shame from,my_of,hope )

Alternate translation: “Give me strength as you said you would” or “Enable me to be strong as you promised”

and not be ashamed of my hope

(Some words not found in UHB: sustain,me according,to_of,your_word so,that_I_may_live and,do_not put,me_to_shame from,my_of,hope )

Here “my hope” represents the writer’s trust in God and his promises. This can be stated as a complete sentence. Alternate translation: “Do not disappoint me” or “Do not cause me shame by not doing what you promised to do”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

Ps 119 This psalm combines elements of wisdom, lament, praise, thanksgiving, and confession. Eight Hebrew words are used frequently, translated as “instructions,” “laws,” “words,” “regulations,” “statutes,” “commands,” “decrees,” “commandments,” and “promises.” Together, these words encourage love for and obedience to God’s instructions, as found in the Scriptures (see 2 Tim 3:14-17). The expression of deep commitment to these instructions unifies the psalm.
