Asaph is using for generation and generation as a common expression of his culture to mean “throughout all generations” or “forever.” If this phrase does not have that meaning in your language, you could use a comparable expression from your language that does have that meaning, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [throughout all generations]

Asaph is using the question form to express his deep sorrow and fear that God has abandoned him. If a speaker of your language would not use the question form for that purpose, you could translate these questions as statements or as exclamations. Alternate translation: [Your covenant faithfulness must be gone forever! Your promise must have failed forever!] or [Surely your covenant faithfulness is gone forever. Surely your promise has failed forever.]
