uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / parallelism

וַֽ֭יִּזְכְּרוּ כִּֽי־אֱלֹהִ֣ים צוּרָ֑ם וְאֵ֥ל עֶ֝לְיוֹן גֹּאֲלָֽם

(Some words not found in UHB: and,they_remembered that/for/because/then/when ʼElohīm rock_of,[was]_their and,God most_high [was]_their_of,redeemer )

See the note on [78:1](../078/001.md) or the Introduction to the Psalms for more information on how to translate parallelisms. Alternate translation: [They would remember that God Most High was their rock and redeemer]

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

אֱלֹהִ֣ים צוּרָ֑ם

ʼElohīm rock_of,[was]_their

The psalmist is speaking of God as if he were a rock that provided protection and stability. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use an equivalent expression from your culture, or you could express the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [God was their refuge] or [God was their protector]

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / ellipsis

וְאֵ֥ל עֶ֝לְיוֹן גֹּאֲלָֽם

and,God most_high (Some words not found in UHB: and,they_remembered that/for/because/then/when ʼElohīm rock_of,[was]_their and,God most_high [was]_their_of,redeemer )

The psalmist is leaving out some of the words that in many languages a sentence would need in order to be complete. You can supply these words from the context if that would be clearer in your language. Alternate translation: [and they would remember that God Most High was their rescuer]
