וַ⁠תִּבְלַ֣ע דָּתָ֑ן

The psalmist is speaking as if the earth were a person who swallowed Dathan. He means that the earth opened up and Dathan fell into it and died. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [and Dathan went down in it]
