uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom

were brought low by their own sin

(Some words not found in UHB: times many delivered, them and, they rebellious in/on/at/with,counsel_of,their and,brought_low in/on/at/with,iniquity_of,their )

Here the phrase “brought low” means to be destroyed. Also, If your language does not use the passive form in this way, you can state this in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: “their sin ruined them” (See also: figs-activepassive)

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

Ps 106 The Israelite community in exile confessed the Lord’s goodness and justice and their own historic sinfulness. From the humble state of exile, they pleaded for redemption and restoration, asking to be gathered back from all the places the Lord had scattered them in his wrath. The psalm does not end in despair but with the memory of the Lord’s former mercy and the hope that his mercy will be renewed (106:44-48). Israel failed, but the Lord is constant.
• Verses 1, 47-48 (along with Pss 96; 105:1-15) are included in David’s song of praise recorded in 1 Chr 16:1-43.
