 ⇔

uW Translation Notes:

Your God, Israel, has decreed your strength

(Some words not found in UHB: there Binyāmīn little leading, them princes Yehuda throng, their princes Zəⱱulun princes Naftālī )

Some versions understand the Hebrew text differently: “Summon your strength, God” or “Use your strength, God”

Your God, Israel, has decreed

(Some words not found in UHB: there Binyāmīn little leading, them princes Yehuda throng, their princes Zəⱱulun princes Naftālī )

Alternate translation: “People of Israel, your God has decreed”

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / exclusive

to us

(Some words not found in UHB: there Binyāmīn little leading, them princes Yehuda throng, their princes Zəⱱulun princes Naftālī )

The word “us” refers to the writer and the people of Israel, but not to Yahweh, to whom he is speaking.

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

Ps 68 This prayer for God’s victorious rule traces God’s march from Sinai to Zion (68:7, 16-18, 24). He rescued the nation of Israel from Egypt, guided it through the wilderness, brought it into the Promised Land, and established his kingdom. He is a caring and victorious God, whose nature is unchanging. Therefore, the godly hope and rejoice in the prospect of God’s universal dominion.
