uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom

דּ֤וֹם ׀ לַיהוָה֮

still to/for=YHWH

David is using Be silent to Yahweh as a common expression of the culture to mean “wait patiently and reverently for Yahweh.” If this phrase does not have that meaning for your readers, you could use a comparable expression from your language that does have that meaning, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [Rest quietly before Yahweh]

Note 2 topic: translate-alternativereadings

וְהִתְח֪וֹלֵ֫ל

and,wait_longingly

The word translated as tremble represents the written Hebrew text. This reading, however, does not seem to make sense here. Scholars have proposed that a different word with a similar spelling was intended that means “to wait” that seems to better fit the meaning of this passage. You may want to follow the major translation in your area. Alternate translation: [and wait]

Note 3 topic: writing-pronouns

ל֥וֹ

to=him/it

The pronoun him refers to Yahweh. It may be helpful to clarify this for your readers. Alternate translation: [and tremble for Yahweh]

Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

דַּרְכּ֑וֹ

(Some words not found in UHB: still to/for=YHWH and,wait_longingly to=him/it not fret in,[one_who]_makes_prosperous_of its=road/course in,a_person producing wicked_schemes )

David is speaking of how a wicked person lives as if that were a way or path that the person was walking along. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [a wicked person’s way]

Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns

עֹשֶׂ֥ה מְזִמּֽוֹת

(Some words not found in UHB: still to/for=YHWH and,wait_longingly to=him/it not fret in,[one_who]_makes_prosperous_of its=road/course in,a_person producing wicked_schemes )

If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea of schemes, you could express the same idea in another way. Alternate translation: [carrying out wicked plans]
