uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

וִ֘יהִ֤י יְהוָ֣ה מִשְׂגָּ֣ב לַדָּ֑ךְ מִ֝שְׂגָּ֗ב לְעִתּ֥וֹת בַּצָּרָֽה

(Some words not found in UHB: and=he judge world in/on/at/with,righteousness judges peoples in/on/at/with,equity )

Here, the author is speaking of Yahweh as if he were a place that people could go to for safety. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: “And may Yahweh protect the oppressed, may he protect them in times with distress” or “And may Yahweh provide safety for those who are oppressed, making them safe in times with distress”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns

לְעִתּ֥וֹת בַּצָּרָֽה

(Some words not found in UHB: and=he judge world in/on/at/with,righteousness judges peoples in/on/at/with,equity )

If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea of distress, you could express the same idea in another way. Alternate translation: “for distressing times”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

9:9 The Lord provides shelter in dangerous circumstances and refuge from powerful and oppressive people. The Psalter includes many similar images of the Lord, such as fortress (18:2; 31:2), rock (18:2; 42:9), strength (18:1), and strong tower (144:2). These images occur frequently in the royal prayers (see 9:9; 18:30).
• Even oppressed, afflicted, and marginalized people (10:17; 74:21) can enjoy divine protection.
• The times of trouble (10:1; 20:1) stand in contrast with appointed times when the Lord openly bestows his favor upon the afflicted (69:13; 102:13; see Ps 107:6).
