our mouths were filled with laughter
(Some words not found in UHB: then filled_with laughter mouth, our and, tongue, our shouts_of_joy then said in/on/at/with,nations great YHWH for=doing with these )
Laughing is spoken of as if their mouths were a container and their laughter was in it. It can be made clear that this laughter was a response to their joy. Alternate translation: “we laughed for joy” (See also: figs-explicit)
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / ellipsis
our tongues with singing
(Some words not found in UHB: then filled_with laughter mouth, our and, tongue, our shouts_of_joy then said in/on/at/with,nations great YHWH for=doing with these )
The verbs “were filled” can be stated clearly. Singing is spoken of as if their tongues were containers and singing was in them. Alternate translation: “our tongues were filled with singing” or “we sang songs of joy” (See also: figs-metaphor)
they said among the nations
(Some words not found in UHB: then filled_with laughter mouth, our and, tongue, our shouts_of_joy then said in/on/at/with,nations great YHWH for=doing with these )
“the people of the nations said among themselves.” The pronoun is used before introducing what it references. This is very unusual.
