123.5 Water intolerable. AUG. Let substance, as are vices, and sins, and sweetness/charm of_this of_life, etc., until to and_wasteful son long necessitate completed to father would_bring_back. This phrase is basically repeating the two phrases from the previous verse; “the waters would have overflowed us” and “the torrent would have passed over our soul,” The second and third phrases emphasize the meaning of the first by repeating the same idea with different words. If it would be helpful to your readers, you could begin this phrase with a connecting word that shows that the second phrase is repeating the first one, not saying something additional. Alternate translation: [Then indeed, our enemies would have completely annihilated us]
