Normally the OET discourages the reading of individual ‘verses’, but this view is only designed as a tool for Bible-translators and others doing comparisons of different translations—the older translations are further down the page (so you can read up from the bottom to trace the English translation history). The OET segments on this page are still early looks into the drafted texts of the Open English Translation of the Bible—please double-check these texts in advance before using in public.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / rquestion

מִֽי־יַעֲלֶ֥ה בְהַר־יְהוָ֑ה וּמִי־יָ֝קוּם בִּמְק֥וֹם קָדְשֽׁוֹ

who? it_will_ascend on,the_mountain_of YHWH and,who? stand (Some words not found in UHB: who? it_will_ascend on,the_mountain_of YHWH and,who? stand in,the_place_of his_holiness_of,his )

David is using questions to cause his readers to think deeply about who is qualified to approach God. David is not asking for information, but is emphasizing that only people who meet certain requirements can approach God. If you would not use rhetorical questions for this purpose in your language, you could translate his questions as statements or exclamations. Alternate translation: [Only certain people may ascend on the mountain of Yahweh! Only certain people may stand in his holy place!]

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit

מִֽי־יַעֲלֶ֥ה בְהַר־יְהוָ֑ה וּמִי־יָ֝קוּם בִּמְק֥וֹם קָדְשֽׁוֹ

who? it_will_ascend on,the_mountain_of YHWH and,who? stand (Some words not found in UHB: who? it_will_ascend on,the_mountain_of YHWH and,who? stand in,the_place_of his_holiness_of,his )

David assumes that readers will know that the mountain of Yahweh and his holy place refer to Mount Zion in Jerusalem, where the Tabernacle of Yahweh was located. You could say that explicitly if that would be helpful to your readers. Alternate translation: [Who may ascend Mount Zion, the mountain of Yahweh? And who may stand in his holy Tabernacle]
