Ps 39 This prayer for rescue reflects the psalmist’s discouragement, which comes from having a limited perspective on his situation.

Here “heart” represents the whole person. The anxious thoughts of the writer are spoken of as if they were a fire burning inside him. Alternate translation: “I became very anxious when I thought about these things” (See also: figs-metaphor)
