Here David is speaking of having energy and hope as if it were light coming into his eyes. Your language may have a comparable expression that you can use in your translation, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [restore my strength and hope] or [make me feel alive again]

David is using the word translated as lest to introduce an outcome that he does not want to happen. Because of this, he first asks God to help him so that this will not happen. Use a connector in your language that makes it clear that avoiding this outcome is the purpose of the request. Alternate translation: [otherwise] or [or else]

David is leaving out some of the words that in many languages a sentence would need in order to be complete. If it would be clearer in your language, you can supply these words from the context, as in the ULT, which supplies sleep of.

The psalmist is referring to death in a polite way by using the phrase sleep the sleep of death. Depending on what is helpful in your language, you could use a polite way of referring to this in your language, or you could state this plainly. Alternate translation: [I die]
