David is using the term soul to mean his entire person from the perspective of his emotional existence. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use an equivalent expression or plain language. Alternate translation: [my inner self]

The point of this comparison is that just as a weaned child resting upon his mother is calm and content, no longer crying for milk, so David’s inner being (my soul) is at peace. If it would be helpful in your language, you could make this point explicitly. Alternate translation: [so that I am content and at rest; my inner being is truly at peace]
