The psalmist is leaving out some of the words that in many languages a sentence would need in order to be complete. You can supply these words from the context if that would be clearer in your language. Alternate translation: [I am for peace]

The psalmist uses the word but here to indicate a contrast between his peaceful disposition and his neighbors’ desire for conflict. In your translation, indicate this contrast in a way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: [and yet when]

The pronoun they refers to those who hate peace mentioned in the previous verse. It may be helpful to clarify this for your readers. Alternate translation: [those people are for war]
