TSNTyndale Study Notes:

Ps 90 Although the Lord’s people have made their home in him for generations, their sin widens the gap between them and their infinite Lord. The Lord’s wrath against a person’s sin might last a lifetime and yet be only a taste of his displeasure with sin. This lamentable situation calls the community to seek the Lord’s light. Taking the first step means seeking restoration with the Lord on the basis of his compassion and love (90:13-14). He alone makes his servants glad and blesses their future generations (90:16-17).

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

we are consumed in your anger

(Some words not found in UHB: that/for/because/then/when consumed in/on/at/with,anger,your and,in/on/at/with,wrath,your dismayed )

God destroying people in his anger is spoken of as if God’s anger were a fire that completely burns up the people. If your language does not use the passive form in this way, you can state this in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: “You destroy us in your anger” (See also: figs-activepassive)

in your wrath we are terrified

(Some words not found in UHB: that/for/because/then/when consumed in/on/at/with,anger,your and,in/on/at/with,wrath,your dismayed )

Alternate translation: “when you are angry we are greatly afraid”
