TSNTyndale Study Notes:

56:11 mere mortals (Hebrew ’adam): The psalm also uses two other words for man: ’enosh (“people,” 56:1) and basar (“mere mortals,” 56:4). All express the ideas of mortality and finitude.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / rquestion

What can anyone do to me?

(Some words not found in UHB: in/on/at/with,God praise word in/on/at/with,LORD praise word )

Here a question is used to show that the psalmist is not afraid of people, because they cannot seriously harm him. If your readers would misunderstand this question, you can express it as a statement. Alternate translation: “People can do nothing to me!” or “People cannot harm me badly!”
