43.11 You_turned_away. CASS. For failing. Or, to_be_turned_away, it_is enemy to_flee; from_where/who: When/But_if you(pl) persecuted they_have_been in/into/on together city, flee in/into/on another. They_were_plundering. This you(pl)_drive_away happens, as let_them_fall in/into/on loot, who/which enemies they_cannot to_resist.

The psalmist may not mean to say that God is actively opposing the Judeans. He may be describing the consequences of God no longer helping them. Alternate translation: [You oblige us to turn back from the enemy]

In this context, the expression for themselves has the sense of “as they wish” or “at will,” that is, without any resistance. You could indicate this explicitly in your translation if that would be helpful to your readers. Alternate translation: [at will]
