The psalmist is speaking as if the Israelite army were actually a horned animal that would gore and trample an opposing army as if it were another animal. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [we push back … we defeat]

In this context, God’s name seems to represent his authority. The psalmist seems to mean that since God assigned the land of Canaan to the Israelites, when they fight to defend that territory, they are doing so on his authority. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use an equivalent expression or plain language. Alternate translation: [by your authority]

The psalmist is speaking of the adversaries of Israel as if they were physically arising to a higher elevation. See how you translated the similar expression in [18:48](../018/048.md). Alternate translation: [the ones attacking us]
