The psalmist is using the term soul to mean the entire person from the perspective of his spiritual and emotional existence. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use an equivalent expression or plain language. Alternate translation: [my whole being]

Here the psalmist is speaking as if his life were a journey that had nearly arrived at Sheol, which is the name of the realm of the dead.
