TSNTyndale Study Notes:

Ps 50 God appears as judge to remind the godly and the ungodly in turn that outward performance of sacrificial rituals and recitation of the law are worthless without thankfulness, repentance, and justice.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

I will not reprove you for your sacrifices

(Some words not found in UHB: not on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in sacrifices,your rebuke,you and,burnt_offerings,your at,before,me continually )

“I will reprove you, but not for your sacrifices.” God explains that their sacrifices are not the reason that he is reproving them.

reprove

(Some words not found in UHB: not on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in sacrifices,your rebuke,you and,burnt_offerings,your at,before,me continually )

tell someone he is guilty of doing wrong

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom

your burnt offerings are always before me

(Some words not found in UHB: not on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in sacrifices,your rebuke,you and,burnt_offerings,your at,before,me continually )

This explains why God is not rebuking them for their sacrifices. The phrase “are always before me” refers to being in God’s presence and means that his people are always sacrificing their burnt offerings to him. Alternate translation: “you are always sacrificing burnt offerings to me”
