TSNTyndale Study Notes:

Ps 119 This psalm combines elements of wisdom, lament, praise, thanksgiving, and confession. Eight Hebrew words are used frequently, translated as “instructions,” “laws,” “words,” “regulations,” “statutes,” “commands,” “decrees,” “commandments,” and “promises.” Together, these words encourage love for and obedience to God’s instructions, as found in the Scriptures (see 2 Tim 3:14-17). The expression of deep commitment to these instructions unifies the psalm.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / 123person

Show your servant

(Some words not found in UHB: make/work/create/deal with servant,your according_to,love,your and,statutes,your teach,me )

The writer speaks about himself as “your servant.” Alternate translation: “Show me” or “Show me, your servant”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns

your covenant faithfulness

(Some words not found in UHB: make/work/create/deal with servant,your according_to,love,your and,statutes,your teach,me )

If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea behind the word faithfulness, you could express the same idea with an adverb or adjective. Alternate translation: “that you faithfully love me” or “that you are faithful to your covenant”
