people humble & haughty

Here David is speaking as if oppressed or poor people were lowly, that is, in a physically low place, and as if proud people were physically high. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [an oppressed people … prideful people] or [poor people … prideful people]
