Revelation

Introduction

Yohan’s (John’s) revelation of Yeshua (Jesus) the messiah concerns events that will happen in the future. This was written long ago in a time when the believers were persecuted due to their faith in the master Yeshua, the messiah, and Yohan himself had been forcibly exiled to Patmos Island by the Roman authorities and held there. Yohan’s main purpose for writing this was to give hope to the believers and to encourage them to persevere in their faith despite their persecution.

A major portion of what’s written in this document is the revelation by Yeshua the messiah to Yohan of incredible signs and all those symbols have a meaning and interpretation. At the time of writing, some were likely understood by the Christians of the time, but now, some of the symbols are very hard to interpret, and there’s been a large range of interpretations from different people. But even though it’s like that, there are also some signs that are easier to understand like ‘horns’ which denote power and authority, and ‘sword’ which denotes war. The themes are repeated throughout this document in various different forms. But it’s important to just understand the main points of what’s written here: God will indeed destroy all of his enemies through the messiah Yeshua, and also, he will reward all his people who persevere in serving him, and then he’ll bring them to live with him. The final major them concerns the new sky and earth that God will create, and concerning the new Yerusalem that will descend from heaven.

1This is the revelation that God gave to Yeshua the messiah to show to his slaves to explain what must happen soon. He communicated it by sending it via his messenger to his slave, Yohan 2who then faithfully passed on everything he saw of God’s message and the testimony of Yeshua the messiah. 3God will bless anyone who reads or listens to the messages of this prophecy and obeys what it written in it, because the time of these events happening is close.

1:4 The greetings to seven assemblies of believers

4[ref]This letter is from Yohan to the seven assemblies in Asia Minor:

Grace and peace to you all from the God who is and was and will be, and from the seven spirits who are in front of this throne, 5[ref]and from Yeshua the messiah, the faithful witness, the first to come back to life, and the ruler of all the leaders of the nations of the world.

Yeshua loves us and he has released us from our sins by his blood, 6[ref]and made us into a kingdom of priests to God his father, and he is deserving of honour and power throughout the ages. May it be so.

7[ref]Look, he’s going to come back in the clouds, and everyone will see him—the one who they speared—and all the tribes on the earth will be mourning over him. REWORK OT QUOTES

the one being, and who was, and who coming, the almighty.

1:9 Yohan sees the messiah

9I, John, am your brother and partner in the suffering that’s typical of those who follow Yeshua. I’ve been exiled to Patmos Island where I endure because I believe God’s message and Yeshua’s testimony and look forward to his kingdom. 10One Sunday while meditating, God’s spirit gave me a vision, and I heard a voice behind me that seemed as loud as a trumpet blast 11that said, “Write down what you see here on a scroll and send it to the seven assemblies of believers—to the cities of Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and to Laodicea.”

12Then I turned to see who was talking to me, and I saw seven golden lamp holders, 13and standing among them was a man who looked like humanity’s child,[fn] wearing a long robe with a golden sash around His chest.[ref] 14His hair was gleaming white like wool or snow and his eyes were bright like a fiery flame.[ref] 15His feet shone like bronze that had been refined in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of a river of rushing water.[ref] 16He was holding seven stars in his right hand and a sharp sword was extending from his mouth, and his face was like the sun shining at its brightest. 17And when I saw him, I quickly lay at his feet, breathless like a dead man, but he placed his right hand on me, and told me, “Don’t be afraid. I am the first and the last.[ref] 18I lived and died here on the earth, but look, now I’m alive again and will live for all eternity, and I control the keys over death and over hell. 19So record what you’re seeing now as well as what I’ll show you about current and future events. 20This is the meaning of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand and of the seven golden lamp holders:[ref] The seven stars represent God’s messengers watching over those seven groups of believers,[ref] and the seven lamp holders represent those groups of believers.

9I Yōannaʸs, the brother of_you_all, and fellow-partaker in the tribulation, and kingdom, and endurance, in Yaʸsous/(Yəhōshūˊa), became in the island which being_called Patmos, because_of the message of_ the _god and the testimony of_Yaʸsous.
10I_became in the_spirit on the master’s day, and I_heard behind me a_voice loud like of_a_trumpet 11saying:
What you_are_seeing, write in a_scroll, and send to_the seven assemblies:
to Efesos, and to Smurna, and to Pergamos, and to Thuateira, and to Sardeis, and to Filadelfeia, and to Laodikeia.
12And I_turned_back to_be_seeing the voice which was_speaking with me.
And having_turned_back, I_saw seven lampstands golden, 13and in the_midst of_the lampstands:
similar son of_Man, having_dressed_in reaching_the_feet, and having_been_girded_about at the breasts a_belt golden.
14And the head of_him and his hairs were white, as_though wool white as snow, and the eyes of_him like a_flame of_fire, 15and the feet of_him similar to_burnished_bronze as in a_furnace of_having_been_refined, and the voice of_him like the_voice of_waters many, 16and holding in the right hand of_him seven stars, and out_of the mouth of_him a_sword double_edged sharp going_out, and the face of_him like the sun is_shining in the power of_it.
17And when I_saw him, I_fell at the feet of_him, as_though dead.
And he_put the right hand of_him on me saying:
Not be_fearing, I am the first and the last, 18and which living and I_became dead, and see, living I_am to the ages of_the ages, and I_am_having the keys of_ the _death and of_ the _Hadaʸs.
19Therefore write what things you_saw, and what things they_are, and what things is_going to_become after these things.
20The seven mystery of_the stars, which you_saw on the right hand of_me, and the seven lampstands the golden:
the seven stars, seven the_messengers of_the assemblies are, and the seven lampstands the_seven assemblies are.

2:1 The message to the assembly in Ephesus

2To the assembly’s messenger in Ephesus write:

The one holding the seven stars in his right hand, the one walking among the seven golden lampstands, says these things: 2“I know about your activities and work, and your endurance and that you can not tolerate evil people, and that you have investigated the ones calling themselves missionaries but are not, and you have found them to be frauds. 3I’m aware that you’ve endured and even suffered persecution because you’ve believed in me, but you’ve never given up. 4However, I do have something against you: you’ve abandoned the love that you first had. 5So now, you need to remember where you’ve fallen from, and repent and repeat how you behaved at the beginning, but if you don’t, I’ll come to you and if you don’t repent, I’ll remove your lampstand from its place. 6But you do have this going for you: you hate what the disciples of Nicolaus are doing,[fn] just like I do.

7Everyone who wants to understand needs to listen to what God’s spirit is saying to the assemblies.

I will grant the right to eat from the tree that gives life in God’s paradise to everyone who overcomes.”[ref]

2To_the messenger which in Efesos assembly write:
These things is_saying the one taking_hold_of the seven stars in the right hand of_him, the one walking in the_midst of_the seven lampstands the golden:
2I_have_known the works of_you, and the labour and the endurance of_you, and that not you_are_being_able to_bear evil, and you_tested the ones saying themselves to_be ambassadors, and not they_are, and you_found them false, 3and endurance you_are_having, and you_bore because_of the name of_me, and not you_have_been_wearied.
4But I_am_having against you that the love of_you the first you_were_leaving.
5Therefore be_remembering from_where you_have_fallen and repent, and the first works do.
And if not, I_am_coming to_you and will_be_removing the lampstand of_you out_of the place of_it, if not you_may_repent.
6But this you_are_having, that you_are_hating the works of_the Nikolaitaʸs, which also_I am_hating.
7The one having an_ear, him_let_hear what the spirit is_saying to_the assemblies.
To_the one overcoming, I_will_be_giving to_him to_eat of the tree of_ the _life, which is in the paradise of_ the _god.

2:8 The message to the assembly in Smyrna

8To the assembly’s messenger in Smyrna write:[ref]

The one who’s the first and the last, who died but lived again, says these things: 9“I know about your suffering and your poverty, but you’re actually rich! I also know how about the slander of those who consider themselves to be Jews, but they’re not true Jews because their master is Satan. 10Don’t be afraid about what you’re going to suffer. Yes, the devil will throw some of you into prison where your faith will be tested, and you’ll experience persecution for ten days. Just remain faithful, even if it means death, and I’ll give you life as a reward.

11Everyone who wants to understand needs to listen to what God’s spirit is saying to the assemblies.

Anyone who stays true won’t be affected by the second death.”[ref]

8And to_the messenger of_the in Smurna assembly write:
These things is_saying the first and the last, who became dead and lived:
9I_have_known of_you the tribulation and the poverty (but rich you_are), and the slander of the ones saying Youdaiōns to_be themselves, and not they_are, but are a_synagogue of_ the _Satan/(Sāţān).
10Not be_fearing what you_are_going to_be_suffering.
Behold, is_going to_be_throwing some the devil of you_all into prison, in_order_that you_all_may_be_tested, and you_all_will_be_having tribulation ten for_days.
Be_becoming faithful until death, and I_will_be_giving to_you the crown of_ the _life.
11The one having an_ear, him_let_hear what the spirit is_saying to_the assemblies.
The one overcoming by_no_means not may_be_injured by the death the second.

2:12 TThe message to the assembly in Pergamum

12To the assembly’s messenger in Pergamum write:

The one with the sharp sword says these things: 13“I know where you live: where Satan’s throne is. Despite that, you firmly believe in me and you haven’t denied your faith in me, even when Antipas, the faithful man who told others about me was killed in your city, where Satan lives. 14But I do have a few things against you: you have some people there who hold to the ancient prophet Balaam’s teaching.[ref] He taught Moab’s king, Balak, how to tempt the Israelis and to eat food that had been sacrificed to idols, and to be sexually immoral. 15In the same way, some of you also follow the teachings of Nicolaus’ disciples.[fn] 16So turn away from all that, otherwise I’ll come soon and battle against them with the word of my mouth.

17Everyone who wants to understand needs to listen to what God’s spirit is saying to the assemblies.

Anyone who stays true will be given hidden food from heaven, and I’ll give each of them a white stone with a new name written on it that no one knows apart from the person receiving it.”[ref]

12And to_the messenger of_the in Pergamos assembly write:
These things is_saying the one having the sword the double_edged the sharp:
13I_have_known where you_are_dwelling, where the throne of_ the _Satan is, and you_are_taking_hold_of the name of_me, and not disowned the faith of_me, even in the days of_Antipas, the witness of_me the faithful of_me, who was_killed_off among you_all, where the Satan is_dwelling.
14But I_am_having against you a_few things, because you_are_having some there taking_hold_of the teaching of_Balaʼam/(Biləˊām), who was_teaching the to_Balak to_throw a_temptation before the sons of_Israaʸl/(Yisəʼēl), to_eat idol_sacrificed things and to_commit_sexual_immorality.
15Thus are_having some also you, taking_hold_of the teaching of_the_Nikolaitaʸs likewise.
16Therefore repent.
And if not, I_am_coming to_you quickly, and I_will_be_warring with them with the sword of_the mouth of_me.
17The one having an_ear, him_let_hear what the spirit is_saying to_the assemblies.
To_the one overcoming, I_will_be_giving to_him of_the manna which having_been_hidden, and I_will_be_giving to_him a_stone white, and on the stone a_name new having_been_written, which no_one has_known, except not/lest the one receiving it.

2:18 The message to the assembly in Thyatira

18To the assembly’s messenger in Thyatira write:

God’s son, the one with eyes like a flame of fire and with feet like bronze, says: 19“I know what you’ve been doing, and about your love and faith, and your service and endurance, and what you’re doing now is better than what you first did. 20But I have against you that you tolerate that woman Jezebel who calls a prophetess, and she deceives my servants by teaching them to be sexually immoral and to eat food that’s been offered to idols.[ref] 21Even though I’ve given her time to repent, she’s still not willing to turn away from her immorality. 22Listen, I’m going to punish her with a terrible sickness, and to punish those who’re committing adultery with her with terrible suffering if they don’t turn away from what she’s doing. 23I will kill her children, then all the assemblies will know that I am the one who searches people’s affections and hearts, and who punishes or rewards each one of you depending on your actions.[ref]

24But the rest of you believers in the city of Thyatira have not obeyed that woman’s teachings and haven’t taken part in what she calls ‘the secret practices that Satan taught her’, I have something to say to you all as well. I won’t give you any other other burden 25except to just to continue to obey the true teaching that you’ve received, until I return. 26And anyone who’s victorious, who continues to do what I command until the end, I’ll give them authority to rule over the people groups on earth.[ref] 27They’ll rule them with irresistible power, and those who rebel will be smashed like unwanted clay pots, 28just like the authority that I’ve received from my father. And I’ll give them the morning star.

29Everyone who wants to understand needs to listen to what God’s spirit is saying to the assemblies.”

18And to_the messenger of_the in Thuateira assembly write:
These things is_saying the son of_ the _god, the one having the eyes of_him like a_flame of_fire, and the feet of_him similar to_burnished_bronze:
19I_have_known of_you the works, and the love, and the faith, and the service, and the endurance of_you, and the works of_you, the last more than the first.
20But I_am_having against you that you_are_allowing the woman Jezebel, the woman calling herself a_prophetess, and she_is_teaching and is_misleading the my slaves to_commit_sexual_immorality, and to_eat idol_sacrificed food.
21And I_gave to_her time, in_order_that she_may_repent, and not she_willed to_repent of the sexual_immorality of_her.
22see, I_am_throwing her into a_bed, and the ones committing_adultery with her into tribulation great, if not they_will_be_repenting of the works of_her.
23And the children of_her I_will_be_killing_off with death, and will_be_knowing all the assemblies that I am the one searching kidneys and hearts, and I_will_be_giving to_you_all to_each according_to the works of_you_all.
24But to_you_all I_am_saying to_the rest which in Thuateira, as_many_as not are_having the teaching this, who not they_knew the deep things of_ the _Satan/(Sāţān), as they_are_saying, not I_am_throwing on you_all another burden.
25However what you_all_are_having, take_hold_of until of_which wishfully I_may_come.
26And the one overcoming and which keeping until the_end the works of_me:
I_will_be_giving to_him authority over the nations27and he_will_be_shepherding them with a_rod iron, as the vessels the pottery is_being_crushed, 28as also_I have_received from the father of_me, and I_will_be_giving to_him the star the morning.
29The one having an_ear, him_let_hear what the spirit is_saying to_the assemblies.

3:1 The message to the assembly in Sardis

3To the assembly’s messenger in Sardis write:

The one having the seven spirits of God and the seven stars says these things: “I know what you’re achieving and that you have a reputation of being ‘alive’, but you’re actually dead. 2So wake up from the dead and strengthen what’s left and was about to die, because your actions have been inadequate in God’s sight. 3Remember how you first listened to and internalised God’s message, and how you obeyed it and repented. If you don’t wake up soon, I’ll come unexpectedly—you’ll certainly not know in advance when I’ll be coming.[ref] 4But you do have a few people in Sardis who haven’t stained their records, and because they are worthy, they’ll be dressed in white and walk with me. 5So anyone who conquers will be dressed like that in pure white, and I certainly won’t erase their names from the Book of Life, but I’ll declare their names to my father and to his messengers.[ref]

6Everyone who wants to understand needs to listen to what God’s spirit is saying to the assemblies.”

3And to_the messenger of_the in Sardeis assembly write:
These things is_saying the one having the seven spirits of_ the _god and the seven stars:
I_have_known of_you the works, that the_name you_are_having, that you_are_living, and_yet dead you_are.
2Be_becoming watching, and strengthen the other things, which were_going to_die_off, because/for not I_have_found of_you works, having_been_fulfilled before the god of_me.
3Therefore be_remembering how you_have_received and heard, and be_keeping it and repent.
Therefore if not you_may_watch, I_will_be_coming like a_thief, and by_no_means not you_may_know what hour I_will_be_coming on you.
4But you_are_having a_few names in Sardeis, who not soiled the clothes of_them, and they_will_be_walking with me in white garments, because worthy they_are.
5The one overcoming, thus will_be_being_clothed in clothes white, and by_no_means not I_will_be_wiping_out the name of_him from the scroll of_ the _life, and I_will_be_confessing the name of_him before the father of_me, and before the messengers of_him.
6The one having an_ear, him_let_hear what the spirit is_saying to_the assemblies.

3:7 The message to the assembly in Filadelfia

7To the assembly’s messenger in Filadelfia write:[ref]

The holy one, the true one, the one having King David’s key to the city, the one who opens doors no one can shut, and who shuts doors no one can open, says: 8“I know everything you’ve been doing. Listen, I have placed an opened door in front of you that no one can shut. You aren’t very strong, yet you’ve obeyed my instructions and you haven’t disowned knowing me. 9Listen, I’ll give those people from Satan’s synagogue (the ones who say that they’re believing Jews, but they’re not—they’re lying), I’ll make them so that they will come and bow down in front of you, and then they’ll know that I love you.[ref] 10Because you followed my instructions about persevering, I will spare you from the time of trouble that all of humanity will soon experience (which will test everyone living on the earth). 11I’ll come quickly. Hold firmly to what you have so that no one can take away your crown. 12Anyone who’s an overcomer, I’ll make them a pillar in my God’s temple and they’ll never leave it again. I will write my God’s name on them, and the name of my God’s city (the new Jerusalem which will come down out of heaven from my God), and my new name.[ref]

13Everyone who wants to understand needs to listen to what God’s spirit is saying to the assemblies.”

7And to_the messenger of_the in Filadelfeia assembly write:
These things is_saying the true one, the holy one, which having the key of_Dawid/(Dāvid), the one opening_up and no_one will_be_shutting, and shutting and no_one is_opening_up:
8I_have_known of_you the works.
Behold, I_have_given before you a_door having_been_opened_up, which no_one is_able to_shut it, because little you_are_having power, and_yet you_kept of_me the message, and not you_disowned the name of_me.
9Behold, I_may_be_giving those of the synagogue of_ the _Satan/(Sāţān), the ones saying themselves Youdaiōns to_be, and not they_are, but they_are_lying, see, I_will_be_making them that they_will_be_coming and will_be_prostrating before the feet of_you, and they_may_know that I loved you.
10Because you_kept the message of_the endurance of_me, also_I you will_be_keeping out_of the hour of_the of_trial which going to_be_coming on the inhabited_world whole, to_test the ones dwelling on the earth.
11I_am_coming quickly, be_taking_hold_of what you_are_having, in_order_that no_one may_take the crown of_you.
12The one overcoming, I_will_be_making him a_pillar in the temple of_the god of_me, and out by_no_means not he_may_come_out anymore, and I_will_be_writing on him the name of_the god of_me, and the name of_the city of_the god of_me, the new Hierousalaʸm/(Yərūshālayim), the one coming_down out_of the heaven from the god of_me, and the name of_me the new.
13The one having an_ear, him_let_hear what the spirit is_saying to_the assemblies.

3:14 The message to the assembly in Laodicea

14To the assembly’s messenger in Laodicea write:[ref]

The truth, the faithful and true witness, the originator of God’s creation, says: 15“I’m aware of what you’ve been doing and that you’re neither hot nor cold. (You’d benefit[fn] if you were hot or cold.) 16So because you’re lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I’ll spit you out of my mouth. 17You brag, ‘I’m rich, yes I’ve grown rich and don’t have any needs,’ but you don’t realise that you’re actually miserable and pitiable, and poor and blind and naked. 18I advise you to buy gold from me that’s been refined by fire so that you might get rich, and buy white clothes so that you can dress yourself so that the shame of your nakedness might not be displayed, and buy ointment to rub on your eyes so that you’ll be able to see. 19I tell off and discipline those that I love, so be earnest and turn away from your disobedience.[ref] 20Yes, I stand at the door and knock—if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he’ll eat with me. 21Anyone who overcomes, I’ll give the right to sit with me on my throne, just like when I conquered and sat with my father on his throne.

22Everyone who wants to understand needs to listen to what God’s spirit is saying to the assemblies.

14And to_the messenger of_the in Laodikeia assembly write:
These things is_saying the Truly, the witness the faithful and the true, the beginning of_the creation of_ the _god:
15I_have_known of_you the works, that neither cool you_are nor hot.
Profit cool you_were or hot.
16Thus, because lukewarm you_are, and neither hot nor cold, I_am_going you to_spit out_of the mouth of_me.
17Because you_are_saying, that Rich I_am, and I_have_become_rich, and nothing need I_am_having, and not you_have_known that you are the miserable, and pitiful, and poor, and blind, and naked.
18I_am_counselling to_you to_buy from me gold having_been_refined by fire, in_order_that you_may_be_rich, and clothes white, in_order_that you_may_clothe yourself, and not may_be_revealed the shame of_the nakedness of_you, and eyesalve to_rub_in the eyes of_you, in_order_that you_may_be_seeing.
19I as_many_as if may_be_loving, I_am_rebuking and I_am_disciplining, therefore be_being_zealous and repent.
20Behold, I_have_stood at the door and I_am_knocking, if anyone may_hear of_the voice of_me and may_open_up the door, I_will_be_coming_in to him, and I_will_be_dining with him, and he with me.
21The one overcoming, I_will_be_giving to_him to_sit_down with me on the throne of_me, as also_I overcame, and sat_down with the father of_me on the throne of_him.
22The one having an_ear, him_let_hear what the spirit is_saying to_the assemblies.

4:1 Worshipping in heaven

4After that, I looked and wow, a door opening in heaven, and the first voice that I’d heard that sounded like a trumpet told me, “Come up here and I’ll show you what must happen after those things.” 2Immediately I was in the spirit and wow, a throne was appearing in heaven with someone sitting on it.[ref] 3The one sitting there sparkled like jewels, and an emerald-looking rainbow encircled the throne. 4Surrounding that throne were twenty-four other thrones, and on them sat twenty-four elders dressed in white and with golden crowns on their heads. 5From the centre throne came lightning flashes and thunderous sounds and voices. In front of it, seven torches were burning, which are God’s seven spirits.[ref] 6In front of the throne was something like a sea of glass that was as clear as crystal.

Around the throne were four living creatures, covered both front and back with eyes.[ref] 7This first living creature resembled a lion, the second resembled a bull, the third had a face like a man, and the fourth one resembled a flying eagle. 8Each of the four living creatures had six wings with eyes all around and underneath them. Day and night they never stop saying:[ref]

‘Holy, holy, holy,

is the master, almighty God,

who was and is and is to come.’

9Whenever the living creatures praise the one sitting on the throne and honour him and thank him (the one who lives through all the ages), 10the twenty-four elders drop to their knees with their faces to the ground in front of the one sitting on the throne and worship the one who lives through all the ages. They place their crowns down in front of the throne and say:

11“You, our God and master, are worthy to receive praise and honour and power,

because you created everything.

Everything exists just as you determined to create it.”

4After these things I_looked, and see, a_door having_been_opened_up in the heaven, and the voice the first that I_heard was like a_trumpet speaking with me saying:
Go_up here, and I_will_be_showing to_you what it_is_fitting to_become after these things.
2Immediately I_became in the_spirit, and see, a_throne was_lying in the heaven, and on the throne sitting, 3and the one sitting was similar in_appearance to_a_stone, jasper and sardius, and a_rainbow around the throne was similar in_appearance to_an_emerald.
4And around the throne were twenty thrones four, and on thrones the twenty four elders sitting, having_been_clothed clothes white, and on the heads of_them crowns golden.
5And out_of the throne are_going_out lightnings, and voices, and thunders.
And seven lamps of_fire being_burned before the throne, which is the seven spirits of_ the _god, 6and something before the throne was like a_sea glass, similar to_crystal.
And in the_midst of_the throne and around the four, throne living_creatures were, being_full of_eyes ahead and behind.
7And the living_creature the first was similar to_a_lion, and the second living_creature similar to_a_calf, and the third living_creature having the face as of_a_human, and the fourth living_creature similar to_an_eagle flying.
8And the four living_creatures, one by one of_them, having each six wings, around and inside they_are_being_full of_eyes, and rest not they_are_having by_day and night saying:
holy, holy, holy, master the god the almighty, who was, and who being, and who coming.
9And whenever will_be_giving the living_creatures glory, and honour, and thanksgiving, to_the one sitting on the throne, the one living to the ages of_the ages, 10will_be_falling the twenty four elders before the one sitting on the throne, and they_will_be_prostrating before_the one living to the ages of_the ages, and they_will_be_throwing the crowns of_them before the throne saying, 11Worthy you_are, the master and the god of_us, to_receive the glory and the honour and the power, because you created the things all, and for the will of_you they_were, and they_were_created.

5:1 The scroll and the lamb

5Then I saw a scroll in the right-hand of the one sitting on the throne. It had writing on both sides, and have been sealed with seven wax seals.[ref] 2I also saw a powerful messenger who was asking in a loud voice, “Who’s worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?” 3But there wasn’t any person on earth or in the place of the dead who was permitted to open the scroll and read it. 4I began to cry loudly, because no one could be found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside it. 5Then one of the elders said to me, “Stop crying. Look, here’s the lion from the tribe of Judah. He’s the descendant of King David who’s a conqueror who’s competent to break the seals and open the scroll.”[ref]

6Then I saw a lamb standing there between the throne and the four living creatures and the elders. The lamb looked like it had been slaughtered, and it had seven horns and seven eyes which are God’s seven spirits that had been sent throughout the world.[ref] 7The lamb went up to the throne and accepted the scroll from the right hand of the one sitting on the throne. 8When he’d taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders knelt down in from of the lamb. Each elder held a harp and a bowl that was full of incense (which symbolised the prayers of the believers).[ref] 9They sung a new song like this:[ref]

“It’s you who’s worthy to take the scroll and break its seals,

because you were slaughtered and with your blood you purchased people for God

from every tribe and language and people group and nation.

10You’ve made them to be a kingdom[ref]

and to be priests to serve our God,

and they will reign on the earth.”

11Then I looked and I heard the voices of the living creatures and elders that were around the throne along with millions of God’s messengers[ref] 12saying with loud voices:

“The lamb that was slaughtered is worthy to receive power and riches,

and wisdom and strength and honour and praise and blessing.”

13Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth, and under the earth and in the sea—everything everywhere—saying,

“Too the one sitting on the throne

and to the lamb,

be praise and honour and GLORY and power

forever and ever.”

14Then the four living creatures said, “May it be so,” and the elders knelt down and worshipped.

5And I_saw on the right hand of_the one sitting on the throne a_scroll, having_been_written inside and behind, having_been_sealed_up seven with_seals.
2And I_saw an_messenger strong, proclaiming in in_a_voice loud:
Who worthy to_open_up the scroll, and to_break the seals of_it?
3And no_one was_able in the heaven, and_not on the earth, nor beneath the earth, to_open_up the scroll, nor to_be_seeing it.
4And I_was_weeping much, because no_one worthy will_be_being_found to_open_up the scroll, nor to_be_looking it.
5And one of the elders is_saying to_me:
Not be_weeping.
Behold, overcame the lion which of the tribe of_Youda/(Yəhūdāh), the root of_Dawid/(Dāvid), to_open_up the scroll, and the seven seals of_it.
6And I_saw in the_midst of_the throne and of_the four living_creatures and in the_midst of_the elders, a_lamb having_stood as having_been_slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of_ the _god, having_been_sent_out into all the earth.
7And he_came and has_taken it out_of the right hand of_the one sitting on the throne.
8And when he_took the four, scroll the living_creatures and the twenty four elders fell before the lamb, having each a_harp and bowls golden being_full of_incenses, which are the prayers of_the holy ones.
9And they_are_singing a_song new saying:
Worthy you_are to_take the scroll, and to_open_up the seals of_it, because you_were_slain, and bought to_ the _god us by the blood of_you, out_of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation, 10and you_made them to_the god of_us, a_kingdom and priests, and they_will_be_reigning on the earth.
11And I_looked, and I_heard the_voice of_messengers many around the throne, and of_the living_creatures, and of_the elders, and was the number of_them tens_of_thousands of_tens_of_thousands and thousands of_thousands, 12saying with_a_voice loud:
Worthy is the lamb which having_been_slain, to_receive the power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.
13And every creature which in the heaven, and on the earth, and beneath the earth, and on the sea, and the things in them all, I_heard saying:
To_the one sitting on the throne and to_the lamb be the blessing, and the honour, and the glory, and the dominion, to the ages of_the ages.
14And the four living_creatures were_saying:
Truly.
And the elders fell and prostrated.

6:1 The lamb breaks the first six seals

6Then I saw the lamb breaking the first of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures say, “Come,” in a thunderous voice. 2So I looked, and wow, there was a white horse with someone sitting on it holding a bow and arrow. A crown was given to him, and then he went out as a conqueror to conquer.[ref] 3And when the lamb broke the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, “Come,” 4and another horse came out. It was a red horse, and the one sitting on it was given permission to withdraw peace from the earth so that people would slaughter each other, and a large sword was given to him.[ref] 5Then the lamb broke the third seal and I heard the third living creature say, “Come.” I looked, and wow, there was a black horse, and the one sitting on it held balancing scales in his hand.[ref] 6Then I heard something like a voice from among the four living creatures that said, “A kilo of wheat for a day’s pay, or three kilos of barley for the same price. But don’t harm the oil and wine supplies.”

7When the lamb broke the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come.” 8Then I looked, and wow, there was a green horse. The one sitting on it was named ‘Death’, and Hades was sitting behind him. They were given authority over a quarter of the earth: to execute people with the sword, with famine, with death, and with the wild animals on the earth.[ref]

9When the lamb broke the fifth seal, under the altar I saw the souls of everyone who had been killed because of God’s word and because of the testimony that they had upheld. 10These souls called out loudly, “You, master, always do what is right and decide what is right! So please condemn and punish the people on the earth who killed us.” 11Then each of them was given a white robe, and told to wait a little longer until the full number was reached of their fellow servants and brothers and sisters who would also be killed like they were.

12When the lamb broke the sixth seal, there was a violent earthquake and the sun went black like black cloth, and the moon which was full, went red like blood.[ref] 13Also the stars fell out of the sky, just like how a fig tree out of season drops its fruit when it gets shaken by a strong wind.[ref] 14The sky was split apart like a scroll being rolled up, and all the mountains and islands were moved out of their places.[ref] 15Then the kings on the earth, and high-ranking officials, military officers, rich people and influential individuals, all slaves and free people hid in caves and among rocks on the mountains.[ref] 16They told the mountains and rocks, “Fall down on us and hide us so that the one sitting on the throne can’t see us, and also from the lamb’s anger[ref] 17because today is the terrible day when their anger has eventuated, and who can stand up to that?”[ref]

6And I_saw, when opened_up the lamb one of of_the seven seals, and I_heard from_one of the four living_creatures, saying as with_a_voice of_thunder:
Be_coming.
2And I_looked, and see, a_horse white, and the one sitting on it having a_bow, and was_given to_him a_crown, and he_came_out conquering, and that he_may_conquer.
3And when he_opened_up the seal the second, I_heard from_the second living_creature saying:
Be_coming.
4And came_out another horse red, and to_the one sitting on it, was_given to_him to_take the peace from the earth, and in_order_that one_another they_will_be_slaying, and was_given to_him a_sword great.
5And when he_opened_up the seal the third, I_heard from_the third living_creature saying:
Be_coming.
And I_looked, and see, a_horse black, and the one sitting on it, having a_scale in the hand of_him.
6And I_heard something like a_voice in the_midst of_the four living_creatures saying:
A_ⱪoinix_measure of_wheat three, for_a_daʸnarion_coin and ⱪoinix_measure of_barley for_a_daʸnarion_coin, but the olive_oil and the wine not you_may_injure.
7And when he_opened_up the seal the fourth, I_heard the_voice of_the fourth living_creature saying:
Be_coming.
8And I_looked, and see, a_horse green, and the one sitting on it, the_name to_him was Death, and the Hadaʸs was_following with him, and was_given to_them authority over the fourth of_the earth, to_kill_off with sword, and with famine, and with death, and by the wild_beasts of_the earth.
9And when he_opened_up the fifth seal, I_saw beneath the altar, the souls which having_been_slain because_of the message of_ the _god, and because_of their testimony which they_were_having.
10And they_cried_out with_a_voice loud saying:
Until when the master the holy and true, not you_are_judging and are_avenging the blood of_us, from the ones dwelling on the earth?
11And was_given to_them each a_robe white, and it_was_said to_them that they_may_rest a_time still little, until may_be_fulfilled also the fellow-slaves of_them, and the brothers of_them, the ones going to_be_being_killed_off as also they.
12And I_saw when he_opened_up the seal the sixth, and an_earthquake great there_became, and the sun became black as sackcloth hairy, and the moon whole became like blood, 13and the stars of_the sky fell to the earth, as a_fig_tree is_throwing the unripe_figs of_it, by a_wind great being_shaken.
14And the heaven was_separating like a_scroll being_rolled_up, and every mountain and island out_of the places of_them were_moved.
15And the kings of_the earth, and the magnates, and the commanders, and the rich, and the mighty, and every slave and free man, hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of_the mountains, 16and they_are_saying to_the mountains and to_the rocks:
Fall on us, and hide us from the_face of_the one sitting on the throne, and from the severe_anger of_the lamb, 17because came the day the great of_the severe_anger of_them, and who is_able to_be_stood?

7:1 The 144,000 marked Israelis

7After that I saw four messengers standing around the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth so that no wind would blow on land or sea or on any tree.[ref] 2Then I saw another messenger coming up from the direction of the rising sun, and he was holding the living God’s seal. He called out loudly to the four messengers that God had permitted to damage the earth and the sea, 3saying, “Don’t harm the earth or the sea or the trees until we can mark the seal on the foreheads of God’s servants.”[ref] 4Then I heard the count of those who were marked with the seal. There were 144,000 from all of Israel’s tribes. 5There were 12,000 from the tribes of Yudah, Reuben, Gad, 6Asher, Naftali, Manasseh 7Shimeon (Simeon), Levi, Yissakar (Issachar) 8Zebulun, Yosef (Joseph), and Benyamin (Benjamin).

7After this I_saw four messengers having_stood on the four corners of_the earth, taking_hold_of the four winds of_the earth, in_order_that neither may_be_blowing the_wind on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.
2And I_saw another messenger, going_up from the_rising of_the_sun, having the_seal of_god the_living, and he_cried_out with_a_voice loud to_the four messengers to_whom was_given to_them to_injure the earth and the sea 3saying:
Not you_all_may_injure the earth, neither the sea nor the trees, until we_may_seal the slaves of_the god of_us on the foreheads of_them.
4And I_heard the number of_the ones having_been_sealed, hundred forty four thousands, having_been_sealed out_of every tribe of_the_sons of_Israaʸl/(Yisəʼēl):
5out_of the_tribe Twelve of_Youda/(Yəhūdāh) thousands having_been_sealed, out_of the_tribe Twelve of_Ɽoubim/(Rəʼūvēn) thousands, out_of the_tribe Twelve of_Gad/(Gād) thousands, 6out_of the_tribe Twelve of_Asaʸr/(ʼĀshēr) thousands, out_of the_tribe Twelve of_Nefthaleim/(Nafəttālī) thousands, out_of the_tribe Twelve of_Manassaʸs/(Mənashsheh) thousands, 7out_of the_tribe Twelve of_Sumeōn/(Shiməˊōn) thousands, out_of the_tribe Twelve of_Leui/(Lēvī) thousands, out_of the_tribe Twelve of_Isaⱪar/(Yissāskār) thousands, 8out_of the_tribe Twelve of_Zaboulōn/(Zəvūlūn) thousands, out_of the_tribe Twelve of_Beniamin/(Binəyāmīn) thousands, out_of the_tribe of_Yōsaʸf/(Yōşēf) Twelve thousands having_been_sealed.

7:9 The huge crowd dressed in white

9Afer that, I looked and wow, there was a huge crowd too large to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and the lamb, having been dressed in white robes and holding palm branches, 10and they were shouting loudly, “Our God who’s sitting on the throne has saved us! The lamb has saved us!” 11Then all the messengers stood around the throne, and around the elders and the four living beings. The messengers all knelt down in front of the throne with their faces to the ground and worshipped God 12saying, “Yes, may it be so. May praise and GLORY and wisdom and thanks and honour and power and strength be given to our God who lives through all the ages! May it be so.”

13Then one of the elders asked me, “Who are those people in white robes and where have they come from?”

14“Sir, you are the one who knows,” I answered.[ref]

And then he told me, “Those are the ones who’ve come through the terrible tribulation, and they’ve washed their robes in the blood of the lamb and made them white. 15That’s why they’re here in front of God’s throne, and they worship him day and night in his temple, and the one sitting on the throne will extend his protection over them. 16They won’t be hungry or thirsty any longer, and the sun won’t burn them with its scorching heat,[ref] 17because the lamb that’s there at the throne will shepherd them. The lamb will guide them to the springs of living water, and God will ensure that every tear is wiped away from their eyes.”[ref] SHOULD THIS BE IN POETIC FORMAT?

9After these things I_looked, and see, crowd great, which to_number it no_one was_able, out_of every nation, and tribes, and peoples, and tongues, having_stood before the throne and before the lamb, having_been_clothed in_robes white, and palm_branches in the hands of_them, 10and they_are_crying_out with_a_voice loud saying:
- salvation to_the god of_us, to_the one sitting on the throne and to_the lamb.
11And all the messengers had_stood around the throne, and the elders, and the four living_creatures, and they_fell before the throne on the faces of_them, and they_prostrated the before_god 12saying:
Truly.
The blessing, and the glory, and the wisdom, and the thanksgiving, and the honour, and the power, and the strength be, to_the god of_us to the ages of_the ages.
Truly.
13And answered one of of_the elders, saying to_me:
These, which having_been_clothed in_the robes the white, who_all they_are and from_where they_came?
14And I_have_said to_him:
master of_me, you you_have_known.
And he_said to_me:
These are the ones coming out_of the tribulation the great, and they_washed the robes of_them, and they_whitened them in the blood of_the lamb.
15Because_of this, they_are before the throne of_ the _god, and they_are_serving unto_him by_day and night in the temple of_him, and the one sitting on the throne will_be_sheltering over them.
16Neither they_will_be_hungering anymore, nor they_will_be_thirsting anymore, nor not may_fall on them the sun, nor any burning, 17because the lamb who is among the_middle of_the throne will_be_shepherding them, and will_be_guiding them to of_life springs of_waters, and will_be_wiping_out the god every tear from the eyes of_them.

8:1 The lamb of seventh seal

8Then the lamb broke the seventh seal and there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. 2And I saw the seven messengers who stand before God and they were each given a trumpet.

3Then another messenger came and stood at the altar holding a golden bowl for burning incense. He was given a lot of incense to offer which was to be mingled with the prayers of all the believers on the golden altar in front of the throne.[ref] 4So the smoke of the incense from the bowl in the messengers hand, together with the prayers of the believers, drifted upwards in front of God. 5Then the messenger took the bowl and filled it with coals of fire from the altar, and threw them[fn] onto the earth and that caused peals of thunder and roaring, and lightning bolts and an earthquake.[ref]

8And whenever he_opened_up the seal the seventh, became silence in the heaven for_about an_half_hour.
2And I_saw the seven messengers, who before the god have_stood, and they_were_given to_them seven trumpets.
3And another messenger came and was_stood at the altar, having a_censer golden, and was_given to_him incenses much, in_order_that he_will_be_giving it with_the prayers of_the holy ones all on the altar the golden which before the throne.
4And went_up the smoke of_the incenses with_the prayers of_the holy ones out_of the_hand of_the messenger before the god.
5And has_taken the messenger the censer, and filled it from the fire of_the altar, and he_throw it on the earth, and there_became thunders, and sounds, and lightnings, and an_earthquake.

8:6 The first four trumpets

6Then the seven messengers who had the seven trumpets, got ready to blow them.

7Then the first messenger blew his trumpet and then hail and fire mixed together with blood was thrown down on the earth and third of the earth was burnt up along with a third of the trees, and all the green grass got burnt up.[ref]

8Then the second messenger blew his trumpet, and something was thrown into the ocean that was like a huge, burning mountains, and a third of the sea turned into blood. 9One third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.

10Then the third messenger blew his trumpet and a huge star, burning like a torch, fell down from the sky and landed on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water.[ref] 11That star is named ‘Bitterness’ and a third of those waters turned bitter. Many people died from the waters, because they became poisonous.[ref]

12Then the fourth messenger blew his trumpet and a third of the sun and the moon were struck and the sun didn’t shine for a third of the day, nor the moon for a third of the night. One third of the stars were struck and went dark.[ref]

13Then as I watched, I heard an eagle that was flying high in the sky, shouting loudly, “Three terrible things will happen to the people who’re living on the earth when the three remaining messengers blow their trumpets.”

6And the seven messengers which having the seven trumpets prepared themselves, in_order_that they_may_trumpet.
7And the first trumpeted, and there_became hail and fire having_been_mixed with blood, and it_was_thrown on the earth, and the third of_the the_earth was_burned_up, and the third of_the trees was_burned_up, and all grass green was_burned_up.
8And the second messenger trumpeted, and something like a_mountain great with_fire being_burned, was_thrown into the sea, and became the third of_the sea blood, 9and died_off the third of_the creatures which in the sea which having life, and the third of_the ships were_ruined.
10And the third messenger trumpeted, and fell out_of the sky a_star great, being_burned like a_torch, and fell on the third of_the rivers, and on the springs of_the waters, 11and the name of_the star is_being_called which Wormwood.
And became the third of_the waters into wormwood, and many of_the people died_off from the waters, because they_were_made_bitter.
12And the fourth messenger trumpeted, and was_struck the third of_the sun, and the third of_the moon, and the third of_the stars, in_order_that may_be_darkened the third of_them, and the day not may_appear for_the third of_it, and the night likewise.
13And I_looked, and I_heard from_one eagle flying in midair, saying with_a_voice loud:
Woe, woe, woe, to_the ones dwelling on the earth, because/for the other voices of_the three trumpet of_the messengers which going to_be_trumpeting.

9:1 The fifth trumpet brings the first terror

9Then the fifth messenger blew his trumpet and I saw a star that had fallen from the sky to the earth, and he/it[fn] was given the key to the deep, dark pit. 2When he/it unlocked and opened that pit, smoke came up out of it like the smoke of a large furnace, and the smoke darkened the sun and the air.[ref] 3Then locusts came out of the smoke and descended on the land, and they were given stinging power like the large scorpions of the earth.[ref] 4However the locusts were told that they shouldn’t harm the grass or any green plants or trees, but only those people who didn’t have God’s mark on their foreheads.[ref] 5They weren’t given power to kill them, but only to torment them for five months, and their torment was like that of a scorpion when it strikes a person. 6People in those days will try to die, but won’t be able to—they will long to die, but death will run away from them.[ref]

7The locusts looked like horses that had been prepared for battle, with something on their heads that were similar to golden crowns and their faces being like human faces.[ref] 8Their hair was like women’s hair and their teeth were like lions’ teeth.[ref] 9They wore chestplates that seemed to be made of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the roar of many horses rushing into battle pulling chariots.[ref] 10They had tails with stingers like scorpions which had the power to harm people for five months. 11They had a king in charge of them who’s the messenger of the deep pit—his name is ‘Destroyer’. (‘Abaddon’ in Hebrew and ‘Apollyon’ in Greek.)

12The first terrible event has now passed, but there are still two more to follow.

9And the fifth messenger trumpeted, and I_saw a_star out_of the sky having_fallen to the earth, and was_given to_him the key of_the pit of_the abyss, 2and he_opened_up the pit of_the abyss, and went_up smoke out_of of_the pit, like the_smoke of_a_furnace great, and was_darkened the sun and the air by the smoke of_the pit.
3And out_of the smoke came_out locusts to the earth, and was_given to_them power, like are_having power the scorpions of_the earth.
4And it_was_said to_them that neither they_may_injure the grass of_the earth, nor any green thing, nor any tree, except not/lest the people who not are_having the seal of_ the _god on their foreheads.
5And it_was_given to_them, in_order_that not they_may_kill_off them, but in_order_that they_will_be_being_tormented five for_months, and the torment of_them is like torment of_a_scorpion, whenever it_may_strike a_person.
6And in the days those, will_be_seeking the people the death, and by_no_means not they_will_be_finding it, and they_will_be_desiring to_die_off, but is_fleeing the death from them.
7And the likenesses of_the locusts was similar to_horses having_been_prepared for war, and something on the heads of_them were like crowns similar to_gold, and the faces of_them like the_faces of_humans, 8and they_were_having hairs like the_hairs of_women, and the teeth of_them like of_lions were, 9and they_were_having breastplates like breastplates iron, and the sound of_the wings of_them as the_sound of_chariots of_horses many running into war, 10and they_are_having tails similar to_scorpions and stings, and in the tails of_them is the power of_them to_injure the people five for_months.
11They_are_having over themselves a_king, the messenger of_the abyss, the_name to_him In_Hebraios is, Abaddōn/(ʼAvadōn), and in the Hellaʸn he_is_having, the_name Apolluōn.
12The woe the one went_away, see, is_coming still two woes after these things.

9:13 The sixth trumpet brings the second terror

13Then the sixth messenger blew his trumpet and I heard a voice coming from the corners of the golden altar in front of God,[ref] 14that was telling the sixth messenger (with the trumpet), “Release the four messengers that are tied up by the large Euphrates River.” 15So the four messengers who had been prepared for this exact time were released to kill a third of humankind. 16I heard someone say how many mounted soldiers there were—there were 200 million of them, 17and this is what the horses and their riders looked like in my vision: the soldiers wore chestplates that were red like fire, blue like sapphire, and yellow like sulfur. The heads of the horses were like lions’ heads, and fire, smoke, and fumes of burning sulfur came out of their mouths. 18These three plagues (fire, smoke, and burning sulfur coming out of their mouths) killed one third of humankind 19because the horses’ power is in their mouths and in their tails, because their tails are like snakes, having heads that injure people.

20However, the rest of humankind that hadn’t been killed by those plagues, didn’t repent of their actions and didn’t stop worshipping demons and idols made of gold and silver and bronze and stone and wood—idols that can’t see, can’t hear, and can’t walk.[ref] 21They also didn’t repent of their murdering or of their sorcery, nor of their sexual immorality or of their stealing.

13And the sixth messenger trumpeted, and I_heard one voice from the horns of_the altar the golden which before the god, 14saying to_the sixth messenger, which having the trumpet:
Release the four messengers, which having_been_bound at the river the great Eufrataʸs.
15And were_untied/released the four messengers, which having_been_prepared for the hour, and day, and month, and year, in_order_that they_may_kill_off the third of_ the _mankind.
16And the number of_the armies of_the horsemen were two ten_thousand of_ten_thousand, I_heard the number of_them.
17And thus I_saw the horses in my vision, and the ones sitting on them:
having breastplates fiery, and hyacinthine, and sulfurous, and the heads of_the horses like the_heads of_lions, and out_of the mouths of_them is_going_out fire, and smoke, and sulfur.
18By the three plagues these were_killed_off the third of_ the _mankind by the fire, and the smoke, and the sulfur, which going_out out_of the mouths of_them.
19For/Because the power of_the horses in the mouth of_them is and in the tails of_them, because/for the tails of_them are similar to_serpents, having heads, and with them they_are_injuring.
20And the rest of_the people, who not were_killed_off by the plagues these, not_even they_repented of the works of_the hands of_them, in_order_that not they_will_be_prostrating before_the demons, and the idols the golden, and the silver, and the bronze, and the stone, and the wooden, which neither to_be_seeing are_being_able, nor to_be_hearing, nor to_be_walking.
21And neither they_repented of the murders of_them, nor of the sorceries of_them, nor of the wickedness of_them, nor of the the_thefts of_them.

10:1 The messenger and the small scroll

10Then in the vision I saw another powerful messenger coming down from heaven wrapped in a cloud and with a rainbow above his head. His face was like the sun and his feet were like pillars of fire, 2and he was holding a small opened scroll. He set his right foot down on the ocean and his left foot down on the land 3and shouted in a loud voice like a lion roaring, and when he shouted, the seven thunders spoke out in their own voices. 4When the seven thunders spoke, I was going to write down what they said but I heard a voice from heaven that said, “Keep what the seven thunders have said secret, and don’t write it down.”

5Then the messenger that I’d seen straddling the ocean and the land raised his right hand[ref] 6and made an oath by the one living through all the ages and who created heaven and everything in it and the earth and everything in it, and the sea and everything in it, saying, “There won’t be any more delay, 7but at the time when the seventh messenger will speak and blow his trumpet, then the hidden purposes of God will come to be, just like he told his slaves the prophets long ago.”

8Then the one whom I had heard speak from heaven spoke to me again, saying, “Go and get the open scroll from the hand of the messenger who is straddling the ocean and the land.”[ref] 9So I went to the angel and asked him to give me the little scroll, and he answered, “Take it and eat it. At first it’ll taste sweet like honey, but afterwards it’ll be uncomfortable in your stomach.” 10So I took that little scroll from the angel’s hand and ate it, and it tasted sweet like honey, but my stomach hurt afterwards 11and they told me, “You have to speak out God’s message about many nations and people groups and language groups and kings.”

10And I_saw another messenger mighty, coming_down out_of the heaven, having_been_clothed in_a_cloud, and the rainbow on the head of_him, and the face of_him like the sun, and the feet of_him like pillars of_fire, 2and having in the hand of_him a_little_scroll having_been_opened_up.
And he_put the foot of_him the right on the sea, and his the_left on the earth, 3and he_cried_out with_a_voice loud as a_lion is_roaring.
And when he_cried_out, spoke the seven thunders the of_themselves voices.
4And when spoke the seven thunders, I_was_going to_be_writing, but I_heard a_voice out_of the heaven saying:
Seal what things spoke the seven thunders, and not them you_may_write.
5And the messenger, whom I_saw having_stood on the sea and on the land, lifted_up the hand of_him the right to the heaven, 6and swore to to_the one living to the ages of_the ages:
who created the heaven and the things in it, and the earth and the things in it, and the sea and the things in it, that time no_longer will_be.
7But in the days of_the voice of_the messenger, seventh whenever he_may_be_going to_be_trumpeting, also was_finished the mystery of_ the _god, as he_good_message_preached to_the of_himself slaves, the prophets.
8And the voice that I_heard out_of the heaven, again was speaking with me, and saying:
Be_going, take the scroll which having_been_opened_up in the hand of_the messenger, which having_stood on the sea and on the land.
9And I_went_away to the messenger, telling to_him to_give to_me the little_scroll.
And he_is_saying to_me:
Take and devour it, and it_will_be_making_bitter of_you the stomach, but in the mouth of_you, it_will_be sweet as honey.
10And I_took the little_scroll out_of the hand of_the messenger, and I_devoured it, and it_was in the mouth of_me as honey sweet, and when I_ate it, was_made_bitter the stomach of_me.
11And they_are_saying to_me:
It_is_fitting you again to_prophesy concerning peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings many.

11:1 The two witnesses

11Then I was given a measuring stick and told, “Go and message God’s temple and the altar and the people who’re worshipping there,[ref] 2but exclude the outer courtyard. Don’t measure that because it’s been given to the non-Jews, and they’ll tread around the holy city for three and a half years.[ref] 3Then I’ll give my two witnesses the ability to speak out God’s message for six months, while dressed in mourning garb.

4Those are the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the master of the earth.[ref] 5If anyone wants to harm them, fire comes out of their mouth and burns up their enemies, yes, if anyone wants to harm them then they deserve to be killed. 6Those witnesses have the power to stop the rain so that it doesn’t rain while they’re speaking out, and they have power to turn rivers and lakes into blood, and to damage the earth with every type of plague just as often as they want.[ref]

7When the two witnesses have finished speaking out, the beast that comes up from the deep, dark pit will attack them. It’ll overpower them and then kill them.[ref] 8Their corpses will lie on the road of the great city, which in spiritual terms is called Sodom and/or Egyptwhere their master was executed on a stake.[ref] 9People from every nation and tribe and language will look at their corpses for three and a half days and will prevent their corpses from being put into a tomb. 10Those who’re living on the earth will be happy about it and celebrate and send gifts to each another because those two prophets had tormented them, 11but after three and a half days, God’s breath of life will enter into them and they’ll stand up. The people who see that will be terrified.[ref] 12Then the two witnesses will hear a loud voice from the sky telling them, “Come up here.” Then they’ll go up to heaven in a cloud as their enemies watch them go up.[ref] 13At that same time, there will be a huge earthquake which will cause a tenth of the city to collapse. That’ll kill 7,000 people and the rest will be terrified and will acknowledge the God of heaven.[ref]

14The second terror has then passed, but the third will be coming soon.

11And was_given to_me a_rod similar to_a_staff saying:
Be_raising, and measure the temple of_ the _god, and the altar, and the ones prostrating in it.
2And the courtyard which outside the temple, throw_out outside and not it you_may_measure, because it_was_given to_the nations, and the city the holy they_will_be_treading forty for_months two.
3And I_will_be_giving to_the two witnesses of_me, and they_will_be_prophesying for_days two_hundred a_thousand sixty, having_been_clothed in_sackcloth.
4These are the two olive_trees and the two lampstands, which before the master of_the earth having_stood.
5And if anyone them is_wanting to_injure, fire is_going_out of the mouth of_them, and is_devouring the enemies of_them.
And if anyone may_want them to_injure, thus it_is_fitting him to_be_killed_off.
6These are_having the power to_shut the sky, in_order_that no rain may_be_raining in_the days of_the prophecy of_them, and power they_are_having over the waters, to_be_turning them into blood, and to_strike the earth with every plague, as_often_as if they_may_want.
7And whenever they_may_finish the testimony of_them, the wild_animal which going_up out_of the abyss will_be_making with them war, and will_be_overcoming them, and will_be_killing_off them.
8And the corpse of_them will_be on the road of_the city the great, which is_being_called spiritually, Sodoma/(Şədom) and Aiguptos/(Miʦərayim), where also the master of_them was_executed_on_a_stake.
9And they_are_looking of the peoples, and tribes, and tongues, and nations, the corpse of_them three for_days and a_half, and the corpses of_them not they_are_allowing to_be_put into a_tomb.
10And the ones dwelling on the earth are_rejoicing over them, and are_being_gladdened, and gifts they_will_be_sending to_one_another, because these the prophets two tormented the ones dwelling on the earth.
11And after the three days and a_half, the_spirit of_life from the god came_in into them, and they_stood on the feet of_them, and fear great fell_on on the ones observing them.
12And they_heard a_voice great out_of the heaven, saying to_them:
Go_up here.
And they_went_up to the sky in the cloud, and observed them the enemies of_them.
13And in that the hour became an_earthquake great, and the tenth of_the city fell, and were_killed_off in the earthquake, the_names of_people seven thousands, and the rest frightened became, and they_gave glory to_the god of_ the _heaven.
14The woe the second went_away, see, is_coming the woe the third quickly.

11:15 The seventh trumpet brings the third terror

15Then the seventh messenger blew his trumpet, and voices in heaven shouted loudly, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our master and of his messiah, and he will reign through all the ages.”[ref] 16The twenty-four elders sitting on their thrones in front of God knelt down with their faces to the ground and worshipped God, 17saying,

Master, God, ruler of everything, we thank you,

the one who always existed,

and who exists now.

You have taken your incredible power

and have started to reign.

18The nations were enraged,[ref]

but your anger has arrived.

It’s the time to judge the dead

and to give a reward to your slaves, the prophets,

and to those who obey you and those who respect you,

both the lowly ones and the powerful,

and to destroy those who’re destroying the earth.”

19Then God’s temple in heaven was opened, and the wooden chest containing his agreement appeared in his temple. And there were flashes of lightning, and rumblings, and peals of thunder, and an earthquake, and a large hailstorm.[ref]

15And the seventh messenger trumpeted, and became voices great in the heaven saying:
Became the kingdom of_the world of_the master of_us and of_the chosen_one/messiah of_him, and he_will_be_reigning to the ages of_the ages.
16And the twenty four elders which before of_ the _god were_sitting on the thrones of_them, fell on the faces of_them, and they_prostrated the before_god 17saying:
We_are_giving_thanks to_you, master, the god the almighty, who being, and who was, and because you_have_taken the power of_you the great, and you_reigned.
18And the nations were_angered, and came the severe_anger of_you, and the time for_the dead to_be_judged, and to_give the reward to_the slaves of_you, the prophets, and to_the holy ones, and to_the ones fearing the name of_you, the small and the great, and to_ruin the ones ruining the earth.
19And was_opened_up the temple of_ the _god which in the heaven, and was_seen the box of_the covenant of_him in the temple of_him, and there_became lightnings, and voices, and thunders, and an_earthquake, and hail great.

12:1 The woman and the dinosaur

12Then a miraculous sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, and with the moon under her feet, and a crown of twelve starts on her head. 2She was about to give birth and was crying out in pain and agony.

3Another miraculous sign appeared in heaven, and wow, a huge, red dinosaur with seven heads, ten horns, and seven crowns on his heads.[ref] 4His tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and hurled them down to earth, then he stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that when the child was delivered, he could devour it.[ref] 5The woman gave birth to a son who’s going to rule all the nations with an iron scepter, and he was snatched away to God and to his throne,[ref] 6and the woman fled into the wilderness where God had prepared a place for her so that they might nourish her there for three and a half years.

7Then a battle began in heaven, with Micha’el and his messengers making war on the dinosaur. But the dinosaur and his messengers fought back,[ref] 8however the dinosaur couldn’t beat them, so after that they weren’t able to stay in heaven anymore. 9Thus the huge dinosaur was thrown out—that ancient snake called ‘the devil’ and ‘Satan’—the one who deceived the whole world. He was thrown down to the earth and his messengers were thrown down with him.[ref]

10Then I heard a loud voice in heaven saying, “Now our God’s salvation and power and kingdom have come, and the authority of his messiah, because the accuser of the believers has been thrown out—the one who spent day and night in front of God accusing them.[ref] 11They conquered him by means of the lamb’s blood and by the message in their testimony. Indeed, they were prepared to die if necessary. 12So, be glad you heavens and those who shelter in them. The earth and the sea won’t have a good ending because the devil has gone down to you and he’s very angry because he knows he doesn’t have much time left.”

13When the dinosaur realized that God had thrown him down to the earth, he tried to attack the woman who had given birth to the son. 14But two large, eagle wings were given to the woman so that she could fly away to the wilderness, to her place where she’ll be nourished away from the snake for three and a half years.[ref] 15Then the snake poured water out of his mouth like a river towards the woman so that the current would sweep her away, 16but the ground helped the woman by opening up a big hole, and so the flood that the dinosaur poured out from his mouth disappeared into it. 17The dinosaur was furious with the woman and went away to battle against the rest of her children, the ones obeying God’s commands and believing Yeshua’s testimony.

12And a_sign great was_seen in the heaven:
a_woman having_been_clothed with_the sun, and the moon was beneath the feet of_her, and on the head of_her a_crown twelve of_stars, 2and in womb having child, and she_is_crying_out labouring_in_birth, and being_tormented to_bear.
3And was_seen another sign in the heaven:
and see, a_dragon red great having seven heads, and ten horns, and on the heads of_him seven crowns, 4and the tail of_him is_dragging the third of_the stars of_the sky, and he_throw them to the earth.
And the dragon has_stood before the woman which going to_bear, in_order_that whenever she_may_bear, the child of_her he_may_devour it.
5And she_bore a_son a_male, who is_going to_be_shepherding all the nations with a_rod iron, and was_snatched the child of_her to the god, and to the throne of_him.
6And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she_is_having there a_place having_been_prepared by the god, in_order_that there they_may_be_nourishing her for_days two_hundred thousand sixty.
7And became war in the heaven, the Miⱪaaʸl/(Mīkāʼēl) and the messengers of_him which to_war with the dragon.
And the dragon warred and the messengers of_him, 8and not prevailed, nor a_place was_found for_them anymore in the heaven.
9And was_thrown down the dragon the serpent the great, the ancient, who being_called, the_false_accuser, and the Satan/(Sāţān), the one deceiving the inhabited_world whole, he_was_thrown down on the earth, and the messengers of_him with him were_throw down.
10And I_heard a_voice great in the heaven saying:
Now became the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of_ the _god of_us, and the authority of_the chosen_one/messiah of_him, because was_thrown down the accuser of_the brothers of_us, the one accusing them before the god of_us, by_day and night.
11And they overcame him because_of the blood of_the lamb, and because_of the message of_the testimony of_them, and not they_loved the life of_them until death.
12Because_of this be_being_gladdened, heavens, and you_all in them sheltering.
woe the earth and the sea, because came_down the devil to you_all, having rage great, having_known that a_little time he_is_having.
13And when saw the dragon that he_was_thrown on the earth, he_persecuted the woman, who bore the male child.
14And were_given to_the two woman wings of_the eagle the great, in_order_that she_may_be_flying into the wilderness into the place of_her, where she_is_being_nourished there a_time, and times, and a_half of_a_time, from the_face of_the serpent.
15And throw the serpent out_of the mouth of_him after the woman, water as a_river, in_order_that her a_flood may_make.
16And gave_help the earth to_the women, and opened_up the earth the mouth of_it, and swallowed_up the river, which throw the dragon out_of the mouth of_him.
17And was_angered the dragon with the women, and went_away to_make war with the rest of_the children of_her, which keeping the commands of_ the _god, and holding the testimony of_Yaʸsous/(Yəhōshūˊa).

12:18 The two wild animals

18Then the dinosaur stood on the beach by the ocean

13and I saw a wild creature coming up out of the water. It had ten horns and seven heads, and on its horns were ten crowns, and anti-God names were written on each of its heads.[ref] 2The sea creature that I saw was like a leopard with feet like a bear and a mouth like a lion, and the dinosaur gave it his power and his throne and wide-ranging authority.[ref] 3One of the heads of the sea creature looked as if someone had wounded it so that it had died, but that wound had healed and as a result, all the people of the earth marvelled at the sea creature and obeyed it. 4They worshipped the dinosaur because he had given authority to the sea creature, and they worshipped the sea creature, saying, “Who is like this sea creature and who is able to battle against it?”

5The sea creature was given a mouth so it could speak out arrogant and anti-God statements, and it was given authority to act for three and a half years.[ref] 6So it started speaking out anti-God statements, as well as speaking out against God’s name and his home and those who live in heaven. 7It was given permission to battle against the believers and to conquer them, and it was given authority over every tribe and people and language and nation.[ref] 8All the people living on the earth will worship it—all of those whose names have never been written in the lamb’s book of life—the lamb who was slaughtered since foundation of the world.[ref]

9Everyone who wants to understand needs to listen. 10If anyone’s enemies are going to capture them, they will capture them and if anyone’s enemies are going to kill them with a sword, they’ll kill them with a sword. So God’s people must endure suffering and remain faithful.[ref]

11Then I saw a second wild animal come up from the earth. It had two small horns on its head like a lamb, but it spoke like a dinosaur. 12This land animal carries out all the orders of the sea creature and insists that the people who live on the earth worship the sea creature—the one that almost died except its wound healed. 13The land animal also did amazing miracles and it even caused fire to fall from the sky down to the earth that people could see. 14The dinosaur gave the land animal the power to do these miracles on behalf of the sea creature. The land animal used the miracles to deceive the people who live on the earth, telling them to make an idol that looked like the sea creature that had survived a sword wound that seemed to kill it. 15The dinosaur also gave the land animal the power to make that idol live and so the idol that looked like the sea creature was able to speak. The land animal was able to execute anyone who refused to worship the idol 16and it also required each person, whether important or not, and whether rich or poor, free or slave, to have a mark on their right hand or on their forehead. 17Then the land beast ordered that no one could buy or sell anything if they don’t have that mark. The mark was the name of the sea creature or the number that stood for its name.

18This calls for wisdom: Let anyone who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, because it’s the number of a man and his number is 666.[fn]

18And he_was_stood on the sand of_the sea.
13And I_saw out_of the sea a_wild_animal going_up, having ten horns and seven heads, and on the horns of_it ten crowns, and on the heads of_it a_name of_slander.
2And the wild_animal that I_saw was similar to_a_leopard, and the feet of_it like of_a_bear, and the mouth of_it like the_mouth of_a_lion.
And gave to_it the dragon the power of_him, and the throne of_him, and authority great.
3And one of the heads of_it as having_been_slain to death, and the wound of_the death of_it was_healed.
And was_being_marvelled all the earth after the wild_animal, 4and they_prostrated before_the dragon, because he_gave his authority to_the wild_animal, and they_prostrated before_the wild_animal saying:
Who is similar to_the wild_animal, and who is_able to_war with it?
5And was_given to_it a_mouth speaking great things and slander, and was_given to_it authority to_work forty for_months two.
6And it_opened_up the mouth of_it to slander against the god, to_slander the name of_him, and the tent of_him, the ones in the heaven sheltering.
7And was_given to_it authority over every tribe, and people, and tongue, and nation.
8And will_be_prostrating it all the ones dwelling on the earth, whom not has_been_written the name of_him in scroll of_ the _life of_the lamb, which having_been_slain from the_foundation of_the_earth.
9If anyone is_having an_ear, him_let_hear.
10If anyone is_going into captivity, he_is_going, if anyone with the_sword is_killing_off, it_is_fitting him by the_sword to_be_killed_off.
Here is the endurance and the the_faith of_the holy ones.
11And I_saw another wild_animal going_up out_of the earth, and it_was_having two horns similar to_a_lamb, and it_was_speaking like a_dragon.
12And the authority of_the first wild_animal all it_is_doing before it.
And it_is_making the earth and the ones in it dwelling, in_order_that they_will_be_prostrating before_the wild_animal the first, of_whom was_healed the wound of_ the _death of_it.
13And it_is_performing signs great, that even fire it_may_be_making out_of the sky to_be_coming_down to the earth before the people.
14And it_is_deceiving which dwelling on the earth, because_of the signs that it_was_given to_it to_perform before the wild_animal, telling to_the ones dwelling on the earth, to_make an_image to_the wild_animal, who is_having the wound of_the sword, and lived.
15And it_was_given to_it to_give spirit to_the image of_the wild_animal, in_order_that also may_speak the image of_the wild_animal, and may_make as_many_as wishfully not will_be_prostrating before_the image of_the wild_animal they_may_be_killed_off.
16And it_is_making all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free and the slaves, that they_may_give to_them a_mark on the hand of_them the right, or on the forehead of_them, 17and that not someone may_be_able to_buy or to_sell, except not/lest the one having the mark, the name of_the wild_animal, or the number of_the name of_it.
18Here the wisdom is:
the one having a_mind let_count the number of_the wild_animal, because/for the_number of_a_man it_is, and the number of_it is six_hundred sixty six.

14:1 The lamb and the 144,000

14Then I looked and wow, the lamb was standing on Mount Zion, and with him were 144,000 people with his name and the name of his father written on their foreheads.[ref] 2I heard a sound from heaven like the sound of lots of water and like the sound of great thunder, and the sound that I heard was like lots of people playing their harps. 3They sang a new song in front of throne and the four living creatures and the elders, and no one was able to learn the song except the 144,000 who had been bought from the earth. 4They they are all virgins and they follow the lamb wherever he goes. Out of all people, these ones have been purchased as a first fruits offering for God and for the lamb, 5and they tell no lies because they are innocent.[ref]

14And I_looked, and see, the lamb having_stood on the Mount of_Siōn/(Tsiuōn), and with him a_hundred forty four thousands having the name of_him, and the name of_the father of_him, having_been_written on the foreheads of_them.
2And I_heard a_sound out_of the heaven, as the_sound of_waters many, and as the_sound of_thunder loud, and the sound that I_heard was like of_harpists playing_the_harp with the harps of_them.
3And they_are_singing a_song new before the throne, and before the four living_creatures, and the elders.
And no_one was_able to_learn the song, except not/lest the hundred forty four thousands, which having_been_bought from the earth.
4These are those who with women not were_defiled, because/for virgins they_are.
These are the ones following after_the lamb wherever wishfully he_is_going_away.
These were_bought from the mankind as_first-fruit to_ the _god and to_the lamb, 5and in the mouth of_them not was_found a_falsehood, because/for blameless they_are.

14:6 The three messengers

6Then I saw another messenger flying through the air, having the good message that’s eternal to proclaim to those living on the earth, even to every nation and tribe and language and people, 7saying in a loud voice, “Honour God and praise him, because his judgment time has come. Worship the one who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and the springs of water.”

8Then a second messenger followed, saying, “The powerful Babylon has fallen into ruins, the city that caused all the nations to drink from the wine of the passion of her immorality!”[ref]

9Then a third messenger followed them, saying in a loud voice, “Those who worship the sea creature and its image, and receive a mark on their forehead or on their hand, 10they’ll be on the receiving end of God’s anger which he’ll pour out undiluted, so they’ll be tormented with fire and burning sulfur in front of God’s messengers and of the lamb.[ref] 11The smoke from their torment will continue through all the ages, yes, the ones worshipping the sea creature and its image and anyone who receives the mark of its name will have no rest day or night.[ref] 12So the believers who obey God’s commands and have faith in Yeshua must persevere on.

13Then I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Write, ‘Blessed are the those who die trusting in the Lord from now on.’ ”

6And I_saw another messenger flying in midair, having the_good_message eternal to_good_message_preach to the ones dwelling on the earth, and on every nation, and tribe, and tongue, and people, 7saying with a_voice loud:
Be_revering the god, and give to_him glory, because came the hour of_the judgment of_him, and prostrate before_the one having_made the heaven, and the earth, and the_sea, and the_springs of_waters.
8And an_other second messenger followed saying:
Fell, fell Babulōn/(Bāvel?
) great, the who of the wine of_the rage of_the sexual_immorality of_her, she_has_given_to_drink all the pagans.
9And an_other messenger third followed after_them, saying with a_voice loud:
If anyone is_prostrating before_the wild_animal and the image of_it, and is_receiving a_mark on the forehead of_him, or on the hand of_him, 10also he will_be_drinking of the wine of_the rage of_ of_- _god, which having_been_mixed undiluted in the cup of_the severe_anger of_him, and he_will_be_being_tormented in fire and sulfur before the messengers the_holy and before the lamb.
11And the smoke of_the torment of_them to the_ages of_the_ages is_going_up, and not they_are_having rest, by_day and night, the ones prostrating before_the wild_animal and the image of_it, and if anyone is_receiving the mark of_the name of_it.
12Here the the_endurance of_the holy ones is, the ones keeping the commands of_ the _god, and the faith of_Yaʸsous/(Yəhōshūˊa).
13And I_heard of_a_voice out_of the heaven saying:
Write:
Blessed are the dead which in the_master dying_off from now.
Yes, Is_saying the spirit:
in_order_that they_will_be_being_rested from the labours of_them, the for works of_them is_following with them.

14:14 The harvest of the world

“Yes,” says the spirit, “so they will rest from their work, because the record of their activities will follow with them.”

14Then I looked and wow, there was a white cloud, and someone who looked like a human was sitting on the cloud with a golden crown on his head and a sharp sickle (harvesting tool) in his hand.[ref] 15Another messenger came out of the temple, calling out in a loud voice to the one sitting on the cloud: “Extend your sickle and reap the grain because it’s reaping time—the harvest of the earth is ripe now.”[ref] 16So the one sitting on the cloud swung his sickle across the earth, and the earth was harvested.

17Then another messenger came out from the temple in heaven, also holding a sharp sickle.

18And another messenger came from the altar, the one who had authority over the fire, and he shouted in a loud voice to the one with the sharp sickle, saying, “Extend your sharp sickle out and gather the clusters of the grapevine of the earth, because their grapes are ripe.” 19So the messenger swung his sickle across the earth and harvested the grapevine of the earth, and he threw the grapes into the great winepress which is God’s anger. 20Then the grapes were trampled in the winepress outside the city, and blood came out of it and flowed up to the height of a horse’s bridle for 300 kilometres.[ref]

14And I_looked, and see, a_cloud white, and on the cloud sitting one similar the_son of_Man, having on the head of_him a_crown golden, and in the hand of_him a_sickle sharp.
15And another messenger came_out crying_out of the temple, with a_voice loud to_the one sitting on the cloud:
Send the sickle of_you and reap, because came the hour to_reap, because was_withered the harvest of_the earth.
16And throw the one sitting on the cloud the sickle of_him on the earth, and was_reaped the earth.
17And another messenger came_out out_of the temple which in the heaven, having also he a_sickle sharp.
18And another messenger out_of the altar, which having authority over the fire, and he_called with_a_voice loud to_the one having the sickle the sharp saying:
Send of_you the sickle the sharp, and pick the clusters from_the vine of_the earth, because ripened the grapes of_it.
19And throw the messenger the sickle of_him to the earth, and picked the vine of_the earth, and throw them into the wine-press of_the rage of_ the _god the great.
20And was_trodden the wine-press outside the city, and came_out blood out_of the wine-press, until the bridles of_the horses from thousand stadiums six_hundred.

15:1 The messengers bringing the final plagues

15Then I saw another miraculous sign in heaven: seven messengers with the seven final plagues, because the expression of God’s anger will finish with these.

2I saw something that was like a sea of glass that had been mixed with fire. The people who had been victorious over the sea creature and over its image and over the number of its name were standing on that sea of glass. They were holding harps from God 3and singing this song that came from God’s slave Moses, and from the lamb, which went:[ref]

“What you do, Yahweh God, ruler over everything,

is powerful and marvellous.

Your ways PATHS? are fair and honest,

king of the ages.[fn]

4Who will refuse to respect you, Yahweh,[ref]

and honour your name?

Yes, you alone are HOLY,

because all the nations will come

and worship in front of you,

because your RIGHTEOUS acts have been revealed.”

5Then after that, I saw that the temple doors—the tent that’s a testimony—were open[ref] 6and the seven messengers holding the seven plagues came out of the temple. They were dressed in clean, bright linen, with golden sashes wrapped around their chests. 7Then one of the four living creatures gave the seven messengers seven golden bowls that were full of the anger of God who lives through all the ages, 8and the temple was filled with smoke from God’s glory and from his power, and no one was able to enter the temple until the seven plagues of the seven messengers were completed.[ref]

15And I_saw another sign in the heaven, great and marvellous, seven messengers having seven plagues the last, because in them was_finished the rage of_ the _god.
2And I_saw something like a_sea glass having_been_mixed with_fire, and the ones overcoming of the wild_animal, and of the image of_it, and of the number of_the name of_it, having_stood on the sea the glass, having harps of_ the _god.
3And they_are_singing the song of_Mōsaʸs/(Mosheh), the slave of_ the _god, and the song of_the lamb saying:
Great and marvellous are the works of_you, master the god the almighty.
righteous and true are the ways of_you, the king of_the ages.
4Who by_no_means not may_be_afraid, master, and will_be_glorifying the name of_you, because you_alone devout are?
Because all the nations will_be_coming and they_will_be_prostrating before you, because the just_acts of_you were_revealed.
5And after these things I_looked, and was_opened_up the temple of_the tent of_the testimony in the heaven, 6and came_out the seven messengers which having the seven plagues out_of of_the temple, having_dressed_in stone pure shining, and having_been_girded_about around their chests belts golden.
7And one of the four living_creatures gave to_the seven seven messengers bowls golden, being_full of_the rage of_ the _god, the one living to the ages of_the ages.
8And was_filled the temple with_smoke from the glory of_ the _god, and from the power of_him, and no_one was_able to_come_in into the temple, until may_be_finished the seven seven plagues of_the messengers.

16:1 The pouring out of God’s anger

16Then I heard a loud voice from the temple telling the seven messengers, “Go and pour out the seven bowls of God’s anger onto the earth.”

2So the first messenger went and poured out his bowl on the earth, all the people with the sea creature’s mark and the ones worshipping its image.[ref]

3The second messenger poured out his bowl into the ocean and it went thick like a corpse’s blood, and every living creature in it died.

4The third messenger poured out his bowl into the rivers and the springs of water, and it became blood.[ref] 5Then I heard the messenger who was in charge of those waters say to God, “You are righteous, the one who exists now and in the past, the HOLY one, because you have judged these. 6Because they killed those who obeyed God and killed the prophets and poured out their blood, you have also given blood to them to drink. It’s what they deserve.” 7Then I heard (someone at?) the altar say, “Yes, Yahweh God, ruler of all, you judge people with truth and fairness.”

8The fourth messenger poured out his bowl onto the sun and it was permitted to scorch people with fire. 9So people were scorched with incredible heat and they swore at the God who has authority over those plagues, but they did not turn from their disobedience and honour him.

10The fifth messenger poured out his bowl on the throne of the sea creature and its kingdom went dark. The people there were biting their tongues from the pain,[ref] 11and they swore at the God of heaven because of their pain and their sores, but they didn’t turn from their evil actions.

12The sixth messenger poured out his bowl onto the large River Euphrates and its water was dried up in order to prepare the path of the kings from the east.[ref] 13I saw three evil spirits like frogs come out from the dinosaur’s mouth and out from the sea creature’s mouth and out from the false prophet’s mouth, 14because they are demons’ spirits that are able to do miraculous signs. They went out to the rulers all over the world to gather them together for battle on the great day of God, the ruler of all.

15(“Listen, I am coming unexpectedly like a thief! It’ll be good for the ones who’re alert and with their clothes ready so they won’t have to walk around naked and exposed.”)[ref]

16Then the demons’ spirits gathered the rulers at the place called Harmagedon in Hebrew.[ref]

17The seventh messenger poured out his bowl onto the air and a loud voice came out from the throne in the temple saying, “It’s now done.” 18Then there was lightning and thunder and other sounds, and a terrible earthquake, such as had not happened since people had been on the earth. Such a powerful earthquake, so massive![ref] 19The huge city split into three parts and cities collapsed all over the world. The famous city of Babylon the Great was remembered in God’s sight that she should be given her share of the results of his severe anger.[ref] 20All the islands vanished, and mountains could no longer be seen.[ref] 21Then thirty kilogram hailstones dropped onto people from the sky. The people swore at God because of the hail, because it was incredibly terrible![ref]

16And I_heard of_a_loud voice from the temple, saying to_the seven messengers:
Be_going and be_pouring_out the seven bowls of_the rage of_ the _god into the earth.
2And went_away the first, and poured_out the bowl of_him on the earth, and it_became an_ulcer evil, and evil on the people which having the mark of_the wild_animal, and the ones prostrating before_the image of_it.
3And the second poured_out the bowl of_him into the sea, and it_became blood as of_the_dead, and every soul of_life died_off the things in the sea.
4And the third poured_out the bowl of_him into the rivers and the springs of_the waters, and it_became blood.
5And I_heard from_the messenger of_the waters saying:
righteous you_are, the one being, and the one was, devout one, because these things you_judged.
6Because the_blood of_holy ones and of_prophets they_poured_out, and blood to_them have_given to_drink, worthy they_are.
7And I_heard of_the altar saying:
Yes, master the god the almighty, true and righteous are the judgements of_you.
8And the fourth poured_out the bowl of_him on the sun, and was_given to_him to_scorch the people with fire.
9And were_scorched the people with_burning great, and they_slandered the name the of_god, the one having the authority over the plagues these, and not they_repented to_give to_him glory.
10And the fifth poured_out the bowl of_him on the throne of_the wild_animal, and became the kingdom of_it having_been_darkened, and they_were_biting the tongues of_them out_of the misery, 11and they_slandered the god of_ the _heaven for the miseries of_them, and for the ulcers of_them, and not they_repented of the works of_them.
12And the sixth poured_out the bowl of_him on the river the great the Eufrataʸs, and was_dried_up the water of_it, in_order_that may_be_prepared the way of_the kings which of the_east sun.
13And I_saw out_of the mouth of_the dragon, and out_of the mouth of_the wild_animal, and out_of of_the mouth of_the false_prophet, three spirits unclean as_if frogs, 14for/because they_are spirits of_demons perfor/becauseming signs, to_be_going_out to the kings the inhabited_world whole, to_gather_together them to the war the great day of_ the _god the almighty.
15(Behold, I_am_coming like a_thief.
Blessed is the one watching and keeping the clothes of_him, in_order_that not naked he_may_be_walking, and they_may_be_seeing the shame of_him.
) 16And he_gathered_together them to the place which being_called In_Hebraios Harmagedōn/(Mount-Megiddon).
17And the seventh poured_out the bowl of_him in the air, and came_out a_voice loud from the temple from the throne saying:
It_has_become.
18And became lightnings, and and voices, and thunders, an_earthquake became great, such_as not became, from of_which mankind became on the earth, the_so_great earthquake was thus great.
19And became the city the great into three parts, and the cities of_the nations fell, and Babulōn/(Bāvel?
) the great was_reminded before the god, to_give to_her the cup of_the wine of_the rage of_the severe_anger of_him.
20And every island fled, and the_mountains not were_found.
21And a_hail great, about a_talanton_of_silver_weight, is_coming_down out_of the sky on the people, and slandered the people the god, because/for the plague of_the hail, because great is the plague of_it exceedingly.

17:1 The immoral woman drunk with blood

17Then one of the seven messengers holding the seven bowls came and spoke with me, saying, “Come, I’ll show you the judgment of the famous prostitute sitting on many waters,[ref] 2that the rulers of the earth committed sexual immorality with, and those living on the earth were intoxicated from the wine of her sexual immorality.”[ref]

3Then in the spirit I was carried away to a wilderness and I saw a woman sitting on a wild animal that was scarlet and had anti-God names written all over it. It had seven heads and ten horns.[ref] 4The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stone and pearls. In her hand she was holding a golden cup full of abominations and the impurities of her sexual immorality,[ref] 5and a name was written on her forehead. The name was a mystery: ‘Babylon the Great, the Mother of Prostitutes and the Abominations of the Earth.’ 6I noticed that the woman was drunk from the blood of the believers and from the blood of the witnesses of Yeshua. and, having seen her, I wondered a great wonder.

When I saw heard, I was incredibly amazed 7but the messenger asked me, “Why are you astounded? I’ll tell you the mystery of the woman and of the wild animal with the seven heads and the ten horns that’s carrying her. 8The wild_animal that you saw used to be here and isn’t anymore but is about to come up from the abyss. Then it’s going to destruction, and the ones living on the earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the creation of the world will wonder, seeing the beast that used to be here and isn’t anymore but will come back.[ref]

9Here’s the mind understanding wisdom: The seven heads are seven hills that the woman is sitting on, and they’re seven rulers. 10Five of the rulers have fallen and one is still there, but the other one hasn’t come yet, and when he does, it’ll be necessary for him to remain a while. 11The wild animal that used to be here and isn’t anymore is itself also an eighth, but it’s from the seven and is heading towards destruction.

12The ten horns that you saw are ten rulers who haven’t received a domain yet to rule, but they are receiving authority as rulers with the wild animal for one hour.[ref] 13They’re all unified, and they give their power and authority to the wild animal. 14They’ll go to battle against the lamb, but the lamb will conquer them because he is master of masters and king of kings and the ones with him are called and chosen and faithful.”

15Then the angel said to me, “The waters that you saw, where the prostitute sits, are peoples and multitudes and nations and languages. 16The ten horns that you saw and the wild animal, they’ll hate the prostitute and will make her desolated and naked and they’ll eat her flesh and will burn her completely with fire, 17because God has put it into their hearts to do his purpose and to do one purpose and to give their kingdom to the wild animal until God’s words turn into reality.

18The woman that you saw is the famous city whose leaders rule over the rulers of the earth.”

17And came one of the seven messengers of_the ones having the seven bowls, and he_spoke with me saying:
Come, I_will_be_showing to_you the judgment of_the prostitute the great which sitting on waters many, 2with whom committed_sexual_immorality the kings of_the earth, and were_being_drunk the ones dwelling_in the earth with the wine of_the sexual_immorality of_her.
3And he_carried_away me into a_wilderness in the_spirit.
And I_saw a_woman sitting on a_wild_animal scarlet, being_full with_names of_slander, having seven heads and ten horns.
4And the woman was having_been_clothed in_purple and scarlet, and having_been_gilded gold, and stone precious, and pearls, holding a_cup golden in the hand of_her, being_full of_abominations and the unclean of_the sexual_immorality of_her, 5and on the forehead of_her was a_name having_been_written:
Mystery Babulōn/(Bāvel?
) the great, the mother of_the prostitutes, and of_the abominations of_the earth.
6And I_saw the woman being_drunk with the blood of_the holy ones, and with the blood of_the witnesses of_Yaʸsous/(Yəhōshūˊa).
And I_marvelled, having_seen her wonder great.
7And said to_me the messenger:
For/Because_reason why you_marvelled?
I you will_be_telling the mystery of_the woman, and of_the wild_animal which bearing her, which having the seven heads and the ten horns.
8The wild_animal that you_saw was, and not is, and is_going to_be_going_up out_of the abyss, and into destruction to_be_going.
And will_be_marvelling the ones dwelling on the earth, whose not has_been_written the names in the scroll of_ the _life from the_foundation of_the_earth, seeing the wild_animal, that it_was and not is and_yet will_be_being_present.
9Here is the mind which having seven:
wisdom the seven heads mountains are, where the woman is_sitting on them.
And seven kings are:
10the five fell, the one is, the other not_yet came, and whenever he_may_come, a_little time him it_is_fitting to_remain 11and the wild_animal which was, and not is, also himself an_eighth is, and of the seven it_is, and into destruction it_is_going.
12And the ten horns which you_saw, ten kings are, who a_kingdom thus received, but authority as for_one kings hour they_are_receiving with the wild_animal.
13These one opinion are_having, and the power and the authority of_them to_the wild_animal they_are_giving.
14These with the lamb will_be_warring, and the lamb will_be_overcoming them, because master of_masters he_is and king of_kings, and the ones with him, called, and chosen, and faithful.
15And he_is_saying to_me:
The waters that you_saw, where the prostitute is_sitting, peoples and crowds are, and nations and tongues.
16And the ten horns that you_saw and the wild_animal, these will_be_hating the prostitute, and having_been_desolated they_will_be_making her and naked, and the fleshes of_her they_will_be_eating, and her they_will_be_burning_up with with_fire.
17For/Because the god gave into the hearts of_them to_do the opinion of_him, and to_do one opinion, and to_give the kingdom of_them to_the wild_animal, until will_be_being_accomplished the messages of_ the _god.
18And the woman whom you_saw is the city the great, which having a_kingdom over the kings of_the earth.

18:1 Babylon’s fall

18After all that, I saw another messenger coming down from heaven. He had been given great authority, and the earth was illuminated by his radiance. 2He called out in a loud voice, saying, “The mighty Babylon has fallen and become a place for demons to live, and a prison for evil spirits and for every kind of scavenging and detestable bird.[fn][ref] 3All the nations have participated in her immoral passions, and the kings of the earth have committed sexual immorality with her, and the merchants of the earth have become wealthy from the power of her luxury.”[ref]

4Then I heard someone else from heaven saying,[ref]

“Come out from her, my people,

so that you won’t participate in her sins

and so that you won’t be on the receiving end of the plagues intended for her,

5because her pile of sins has reached up to heaven,[ref]

so God has noticed her wickedness.

6Pay her back in the way she’s treated others,[ref]

pay her back double for what she’s done.

Mix a double portion for her in her own cup.

7As much as she thought highly of herself and lived in luxury,[ref]

give her just as much torture and grief.

Because she tells herself

‘I sit like a queen,

I’m not a widow and will never have to grieve.’

8Because of that, her plagues will suddenly arrive one day,

death and grief and famine.

She’ll be burnt up by fire,

because it’s the powerful master God who has judged her.”

9The kings of the earth that had committed sexual immorality and lived in luxury with her, will weep and wail over her when they see the smoke of her burning.[ref] 10In their fear they’ll stand back at a distance and say,

“The famous city’s end won’t be good,

the powerful city of Babylon.

Because your judgment has come all at once.”

11The merchants on the earth will weep and mourn for her, because no one buys their goods anymore—[ref] 12gold and silver, precious stones and pearls, fine linen and purple cloth and silk and scarlet cloth, expensive wood and carved ivory containers and every kind of container made from the costliest wood and bronze and iron and marble,[ref] 13cinnamon and spice, incense and myrrh and frankincense, wine and oil and fine flour and wheat, cattle and sheep and horses, and chariots and slaves and people’s souls. 14People will say, “The good things the people of Babylon longed to have are gone. Their splendid and luxurious goods have been destroyed and won’t become available again.” 15The merchants who became rich selling those things will stand at a distance from her because of the fear of becoming included in her torment, weeping and mourning,[ref] 16saying, “That famous city that used to dress in fine linen and scarlet and be adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls has come to a bad end 17because so much wealth was destroyed in a single hour.”[ref]

Every captain of a ship, and all the passengers and sailors and others who work on the ocean will keep far away from the city 18and when they see the smoke from the burning city they’ll call out, “No other city has even been so awesome.”[ref] 19Then they’ll throw dust on their heads (a Hebrew sign of mourning) and weep and mourn and cry out, “That incredible city where every ship owner became wealthy from valuable trade with her—she’s been destroyed in a single hour.”[ref]

20You in heaven celebrate, and also you believers and missionaries and prophets, because God has judged the city on your behalf.[ref]

21Then a powerful messenger picked up a stone the size of a large millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, “The famous city of Babylon will be violently thrown down just like that stone, and she’ll definitely never be seen again.[ref] 22The sounds of harpists and musicians and flutists and trumpeters will definitely never be heard in you again, and no more craftsmen will be seen in you, and the sound of grain being ground into flour will never be heard in you again.[ref] 23There definitely won’t be any more lamps illuminating you, nor will there be any more happy wedding sounds. Your merchants were the best in the world because all the nations were deceived by your witchcraft.

24The blood of the prophets and the believers and all the others who’ve been murdered can be found in that city.”[ref]

19After all that, I heard what sounded like a huge crowd in heaven, calling out, “Praise Yahweh—he’s saved us and all honour and power belong to him 2because his judgements are true and honest. He’s judged the famous prostitute who was corrupting the earth with her sexual immorality, and he’s avenged her for the murder of his slaves.”[ref] 3Then the crowd called out again, “Praise Yahweh. The smoke from her burning will keep rising throughout the ages.”[ref] 4Then the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures knelt down and worshipped God, the one sitting on the throne, saying, “May it be so. Praise Yahweh.”

18After these things I_saw another messenger coming_down out_of the heaven, having authority great, and the earth was_illuminated with the glory of_him.
2And he_cried_out with a_mighty voice saying:
Fell, fell Babulōn/(Bāvel?
) the great.
And it_became a_dwelling_place of_demons, and a_prison of_every spirit unclean, and a_prison of_every bird unclean, and having_been_hated.
3Because of the wine of_the rage of_the sexual_immorality of_her, have_drunk all the nations, and the kings of_the earth with her committed_sexual_immorality, and the merchants of_the earth by the power of_the sensuality of_her became_rich.
4And I_heard another voice from the heaven saying:
Come_out the people of_me out_of her, in_order_that not you_all_may_participate in_the sins of_her, and of the plagues of_her, in_order_that not you_all_may_receive, 5because were_joined_together of_her the sins until the heaven, and remembered the god the wrongs of_her.
6Give_back to_her as also she gave_back, and double the double, according_to the works of_her, in the cup which she_mixed, mix to_her double, 7as_much_as she_glorified herself and lived_sensuously, so_much give to_her torment and mourning.
Because in the heart of_her she_is_saying, that I_am_sitting queenand a_widow not I_am and mourning by_no_means not I_may_see.
8Because_of this, in one day will_be_coming the plagues of_her, death, and mourning, and famine, and with fire she_will_be_being_burned_up, because mighty is the_master the god which having_judged her.
9And will_be_weeping and will_be_mourning for her the kings of_the earth, which with her having_committed_sexual_immorality and having_lived_sensuously, whenever they_may_be_seeing the smoke of_the burning of_her, 10from afar having_stood, because_of the fear of_the torment of_her saying:
Woe, woe, the city the great Babulōn/(Bāvel?
), the city the strong.
Because in_one hour came the judgment of_you.
11And the merchants of_the earth are_weeping and are_mourning for her, because the cargo of_them no_one is_buying no_longer, 12cargo of_gold, and of_silver, and of_stone precious, and of_pearls, and of_linen, and of_purple, and of_silk, and of_scarlet, and all wood citron, and every object ivory, and every object of wood most_precious, and of_bronze, and of_iron, and of_marble, 13and cinnamon, and amomum, and incenses, and ointment, and frankincense, and wine, and olive_oil, and fine_flour, and wheat, and cattle, and sheep, and of_horses, and of_carriages, and of_bodies, and souls of_humans.
14And the fruit of_you of_the desire of_the soul went_away from you, and all the sleek things and the splendid things destroyed from you, and no_longer by_no_means not them will_be_finding.
15The merchants of_these things which having_become_rich, from her from afar will_be_standing, because_of the fear of_the torment of_her, weeping and mourning 16saying:
Woe, woe, the city the great, you having_been_clothed in_linen, and purple, and scarlet, and having_been_gilded with gold, and stone precious, and pearl.
17Because in_one hour was_desolated the so_much riches.
And every captain, and every the one to a_place sailing, and sailors, and as_many_as the sea are_working, from afar stood 18and they_cried_out, seeing the smoke of_the burning of_her saying:
What is similar to_the city the great?
19And they_throw dust on the heads of_them, and they_cried_out, weeping and mourning saying:
Woe, woe, the city the great, in which became_rich all the ones having the ships in the sea by the wealth of_her.
Because in_one hour she_was_desolated.
20Be_being_gladdened over her, heaven, and the holy ones, and the ambassadors, and the prophets, because judged the god the judgment for_you_all by her.
21And took_up one messenger a_stone mighty like stone great, and he_throw it into the sea saying:
Thus with_violence will_be_being_thrown Babulōn/(Bāvel?
) the great city, and by_no_means not it_may_be_found anymore.
22And the_sound of_harpists, and musicians, and flute_players, and trumpeters, by_no_means not may_be_heard in you anymore, and every craftsman of_every craft by_no_means not may_be_found in you anymore, and the_sound of_a_grinding_stone by_no_means not may_be_heard in you anymore, 23and the_light of_lamp by_no_means not may_shine in you anymore, and the_voice of_a_bridegroom and of_a_bride by_no_means not may_be_heard in you anymore, because the merchants of_you were the magnates of_the earth, because by the sorcery of_you were_deceived all the nations.
24And in her the_blood of_prophets and of_holy ones was_found, and of_all the ones having_been_slain on the earth.
19After these things I_heard something like a_voice loud of_a_crowd great in the heaven saying:
Praise_Yāh.
The salvation, and the glory, and the power be, of_the god of_us.
2Because true and righteous are the judgements of_him, because he_judged the prostitute the great, who was_corrupting the earth with the sexual_immorality of_her, and he_avenged the blood of_the slaves of_him out_of the_hand of_her.
3And secondly they_have_said:
Praise_Yāh.
And the smoke of_her is_going_up to the ages of_the ages.
4And fell the elders the twenty four, and the four living_creatures, and they_prostrated the before_god, the one sitting on the throne saying:
Truly.
Praise_Yāh.

19:5 The lamb’s wedding reception

5Then a voice came from the throne, saying, “Praise our God, all his slaves and everyone who respects him, both great and small.”[ref] 6Then I heard what sounded like a large crowd and what seemed to be the sounds of lots of water and of powerful thunder, saying, “Praise Yahweh, because our God, the powerful master, reigns.[ref] 7We’ll celebrate and be happy and praise him, because it’s now time for the lamb’s wedding and the bride is all ready. 8She was given fine linen clothes that are bright and pure, because what she’s wearing is the obedient acts of the believers.”

9Then the messenger told me to write, “Everyone who’s invited to the lamb’s wedding reception is blessed.” And he added, “These are God’s true words.”[ref]

10I knelt in front of him about to worship him, but he told me, “Hey, I’m a fellow slave of you and your fellow believers who believe Yeshua’s testimony. Only worship God, because Yeshua’s testimony came from the same spirit as prophecy.”

5And a_voice from the throne came_out saying:
Be_praising unto_the god of_us, all the slaves of_him, you_all revering him, the small and the great.
6And I_heard something like the_voice of_a_crowd great, and as the_sound of_waters many, and like a_sound of_thunders mighty saying:
Praise_Yāh, because reigned the_master, the god of_us the almighty.
7We_may_be_rejoicing and may_be_exulting, and we_may_give the glory to_him, because came the wedding of_the lamb, and the wife of_him prepared herself.
8And it_was_given to_her, in_order_that she_may_clothe herself in_linen shining clean, because/for the linen the just_acts of_the holy ones is.
9And he_is_saying to_me:
Write:
Blessed are the ones to the supper of_the wedding of_the lamb having_been_invited.
And he_is_saying to_me:
These the words true are.
of_ the _god.
10And I_fell before the feet of_him to_prostrate before_him.
And he_is_saying to_me:
Be_seeing to_it not, a_fellow-slave of_you I_am, and the brothers of_you which holding the testimony of_Yaʸsous/(Yəhōshūˊa), the before_god prostrate.
For/Because the testimony of_Yaʸsous is the spirit of_ the _prophecy.

19:11 The horse-rider of white horse

11Then I saw heaven open up and wow, a white horse and its rider was named ‘Faithful and true’, and he judges and battles righteously.[ref] 12His eyes shone like a flame of fire, and he had many crowns on his head, with a name written (on him? See v16) that no one knows except himself,[ref] 13He’s wearing a robe that’s been dipped in blood, and his name is ‘God’s message’, 14and the armies in heaven were following him on white horses, all dressed in fine linen—white and clean. 15A sharp sword comes out of his mouth so he can strike the nations and he’ll rule them with an iron scepter. He’ll destroy his enemies like trampling grapes in a winepress, with the resultant juice representing the anger of the all-powerful God’s fury.[ref] 16He has a name written on his robe and on his thigh: ‘King of kings and master of masters’.

17Then I saw a messenger standing in the sun, and he yelled out in a loud voice to all the birds flying high in the sky, “Come and join God’s big feast,[ref] 18so you can eat the flesh of kings and commanders and warriors and horses and their riders, and the flesh of others, both free and slaves, lowly and prominent.”

19Then I saw the wild animal and the worldly kings and their armies who had joined together to battle against the rider of the white horse and his army. 20But then the animal was captured along with the false prophet who had done miracles in front of him. (That was how he’d deceived the ones who had accepted the mark of the animal and the ones worshiping his image.) The two of them were thrown alive into the lake of fire burning with sulfur. [ref] 21The rest were killed by the rider of the white horse with the sword coming out from his mouth, and all the birds were gorged with the flesh of the dead.

11And I_saw the heaven having_been_opened_up, and see, a_horse white, and the one sitting on it, Faithful being_called and true, and in righteousness he_is_judging and is_warring.
12And the eyes of_him are a_flame of_fire, and on the head of_him crowns many, having name having_been_written, which no_one has_known, except not/lest he, 13and having_been_clothed in_a_robe having_been_dipped in_blood, and has_been_called the the_name of_him, the word of_ the _god.
14And the armies in the heaven was_following after_him on horses white, having_dressed_in linen white pure.
15And out_of the mouth of_him is_going_out a_sword sharp, in_order_that with it he_may_strike the nations:
and he will_be_shepherding them with a_rod iron, and he is_treading the wine-press of_the wine of_the rage of_the severe_anger of_ the _god the almighty.
16And he_is_having on his robe and on the thigh of_him, a_name having_been_written:
king of_kings and master of_masters.
17And I_saw one messenger having_stood in the sun, and he_cried_out with a_voice loud, saying to_all the birds which flying in midair:
Come, be_gathered_together to the supper the great of_ the _god, 18in_order_that you_all_may_eat the_fleshes of_kings, and fleshes of_commanders, and the_fleshes of_mighty, and the_fleshes of_horses, and of_the ones sitting on them, and the_fleshes of_all, free men both and slaves, and small and great.
19And I_saw the wild_animal, and the kings of_the earth, and the armies of_them, having_been_gathered_together to_make the war with the one sitting on the horse, and with the army of_him.
20And was_caught the wild_animal, and with him the the_false_prophet, the one having_done the signs before him, by which he_deceived the ones having_received the mark of_the wild_animal, and the ones prostrating before_the image of_him.
Living were_throw the two into the lake of_ the _fire, which being_burned with sulfur.
21And the rest were_killed_off with the sword of_the one sitting on the horse, which having_come_out out_of the mouth of_him, and all the birds were_satisfied with the fleshes of_them.

20:1 The thousand years

20Then I saw a messenger coming down from heaven holding the key to the pit as well as a heavy chain 2and he seized the dinosaur, that ancient snake, who is the devil and Satan, and chained him up for a thousand years.[ref] 3The messenger threw him into the pit and shut it and sealed it over him so that he wouldn’t deceive the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, it will be necessary for him to be released for a short time.

4I saw thrones with people sitting on them and they were given the responsibility of judging both the souls of the ones who’d been beheaded for believing Yeshua’s and God’s message, and those who didn’t worship the animal or his image and didn’t receive the mark on their hand or forehead. And they lived and reigned with the messiah for a thousand years.[ref] 5The rest of the dead didn’t come back to life until the thousand years were up. That’s the first resurrection. 6Those who have a part in that first resurrection will be blessed and (considered?) holy. The second death has no power over them—they’ll be priests of God and of the messiah and they’ll reign with him for a thousand years.

20And I_saw an_messenger coming_down out_of the heaven, holding the key of_the abyss, and a_chain great in the hand of_him.
2And he_apprehended the dragon, the serpent the ancient, who is the_false_accuser and the Satan/(Sāţān), and he_bound him for_a_thousand years, 3and he_throw him into the abyss, and shut and sealed it over him, in_order_that not he_may_deceive anymore the nations, until may_be_finished the thousand years, after these things, it_is_fitting him to_be_released a_little time.
4And I_saw thrones, and they_sat_down on them, and judgment was_given to_them, and the souls of_the ones having_been_beheaded because_of the testimony of_Yaʸsous/(Yəhōshūˊa), and because_of the message of_ the _god, and whoever neither prostrated before_the wild_animal, nor the image of_him, and not took the mark on their forehead, and on the hand of_them, and they_lived and reigned with the for_a_Thousand chosen_one/messiah years.
5The rest of_the dead not lived, until may_be_finished the thousand years.
This is the resurrection the first.
6Blessed and holy is the one having a_part in the resurrection the first.
Over these the second death not is_having authority, but they_will_be priests of_ the _god and of_the chosen_one/messiah, and they_will_be_reigning with him for_the thousand years.

20:7 Satan’s defeat

7At the end of the thousand years, Satan will be released from his prison, 8and he’ll go out to deceive the nations right around the earth—Gog and Magog—to gather them together to battle. They’ll be too many to count like the sand on the beach.[ref] 9They’ll cover the whole world and surround the camp of the believers and the beloved city, but fire will come down from heaven and burn them up. 10Then the devil who’d deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the animal and the false prophet were, and they’ll be tormented day and night throughout the ages.

7And whenever may_be_finished the thousand years, will_be_being_released the Satan/(Sāţān) out_of the prison of_him, 8and he_will_be_coming_out to_deceive the nations which in the four corners of_the earth, the Gōg/(Gōg) and Magōg/(Māgōg), to_gather_together them to the war, of_whom the number of_them is like the sand of_the sea.
9And they_went_up on the breadth of_the earth, and surrounded the camp of_the holy ones, and the city which having_been_loved.
But came_down fire out_of the sky and it_devoured them.
10And the devil, the one deceiving them, was_thrown into the lake of_ the _fire and of_sulfur, where were also the wild_animal and the false_prophet, and they_will_be_being_tormented by_day and night for the ages of_the ages.

20:11 The dead are revived for judgement

11Then I saw a large white throne with someone sitting on it. Earth and sky fled from his presence but they couldn’t find where to go.[ref] 12Then I saw the dead—both prominent people and the lowly—standing before the throne, and some books were opened and then another book was opened—the book of life. Then the dead were judged from the things written in the books according to what they’d done. 13The sea gave up the dead in it, and ‘death’ and Hades gave up the dead in them, and then every one of them was judged according to what they’d done. 14Then ‘death’ and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. That’s the second death—the lake of fire, 15and anyone whose name couldn’t be found in the book of life was thrown into that lake of fire.

11And I_saw a_throne great white, and the one sitting on on_it, whose from the face fled the earth and the heaven, and place not was_found for_them.
12And I_saw the dead, the great and the small, having_stood before the throne, and scrolls were_opened_up, and another scroll was_opened_up, which is of_the scroll of_life.
And were_judged the dead out_of the things having_been_written in the scrolls according_to the works of_them.
13And gave the sea the dead which in it, and the death and the Hadaʸs gave the dead which in them, and they_were_judged each according_to the works of_them.
14And the death and the Hadaʸs were_throw into the lake of_ the _fire.
This the the second death is, the lake of_ the _fire.
15And if anyone not was_found in the scroll of_ the _life having_been_written, he_was_thrown into the lake of_ the _fire.

21:1 The new sky and the new earth

21Then I saw a new sky and a new earth, because the first sky and the first earth had gone away, and there weren’t any more oceans.[ref] 2Then I saw the chosen city—the new Jerusalem—coming down out of heaven from God, prepared like a bride all dressed up for her husband,[ref] 3and I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Listen, God will now live here with the people—he’ll live with them and they’ll be his people, and God himself will be with them.[ref] 4He’ll wipe all their tears away from their eyes, and there won’t be any more death or grieving, or crying or pain. They won’t even exist any longer—the original world is gone.”[ref]

5Then the one sitting on the throne said, “Listen, I’m remaking everything.” And he told me, “Write that down because these words are trustworthy and true.” 6And he told me, “Everything’s done. I’m the A and the Z—the beginning and the end. I’ll freely give from the spring of the water of life to anyone who’s thirsty.[ref] 7All of those who conquer will inherit those things, and I will be their God and they will be my children.[ref] 8But as for the cowardly and the unbelieving, the abhorred and murderers, fornicators and sorcerers, and idolaters and all liars, their place will be in the lake burning with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”

21And I_saw a_heaven new and an_earth new, because/for the the_first heaven and the first earth went_away, and the sea not is anymore.
2And the city the holy, Hierousalaʸm/(Yərūshālayim) the_new, I_saw coming_down out_of the heaven from the god, having_been_prepared as a_bride, having_been_adorned for_the husband of_her.
3And I_heard of_a_voice great out_of the throne saying:
Behold, the tent of_ the _god is with the humans, and he_will_be_sheltering with them, and they the_peoples of_him will_be, and himself the god will_be with them, 4and he_will_be_wiping_out every tear from the eyes of_them, and the death not will_be anymore, neither mourning, nor clamour, nor misery, not will_be anymore.
The first things went_away.
5And said the one sitting on the throne:
Behold, new I_am_making all things.
And he_is_saying to_me:
Write, because these the messages faithful and true are.
6And he_said to_me:
They_have_become.
I am the first_letter and the last_letter, the beginning and the end.
I to_the one thirsting will_be_giving of the spring of_the water of_ the _life undeservedly.
7The one overcoming will_be_inheriting these things, and I_will_be to_him god, and he will_be to_me a_son.
8But to_the fearful, and unbelieving, and having_been_detested, and murderers, and the_sexually_immoral, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all the liars, the portion of_them is in the lake which being_burned with_fire and sulfur, which is the death the second.

21:9 The new Yerusalem

9Then one of the seven messengers holding the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and spoke to me, saying, “Come, I’ll show you the bride—the lamb’s wife.” 10Then in the spirit, he carried me away to a very large, high mountain and he showed me the HOLY city, Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven,[ref] 11shining like God’s splendourits brilliance being like a very precious stone—like a jasper stone shining like crystal. 12The city had wall that was both wide and high, with twelve gates and twelve messengers at the gates. The gates had the names of the twelve tribes (from Israel’s twelve sons) written on them.[ref] 13There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south, and three on the west. 14The city wall had twelve foundation stones, and they had the names of the lamb’s twelve missionaries written on them.

15The messenger speaking to me had a golden measuring rod so that he could measure the city and its gates and wall.[ref] 16The city was laid out square with the length equalling the width. Using the rod, the messenger measured the city at 2.2km on each edge, with the length, width, and height all being equal. 17He also measured the wall to be 70m using normal measurements.[fn] 18The wall was made of green jasper stone and the city itself was pure gold but as clear as glass.[ref] 19The foundations of the city’s wall were adorned with many different kinds of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, 20the fifth sardonyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. 21The twelve gates were twelve pearls—each one of the gates individually was from one pearl—and the city street was pure goldtransparent like glass.

22I didn’t see any temple in the city because the master, the all-powerful God, and the lamb are its temple. 23The city doesn’t need the sun or moon to illuminate it because God’s radiance illuminates it, and its lamp is the lamb.[ref] 24The nations will be able to walk around from its light, and the kings on the earth will bring their best into the city.[ref] 25It’ll never get dark there, so the city gates will never need to be closed[ref] 26and they will bring the prestige and the honour of the nations into it. 27However, nothing that’s ‘unclean’ will ever enter the city, and nor will those with shameful or dishonest behaviour—only those whose names have been written in the lamb’s book of life.[ref]

22[ref]Then he showed me the river of the water of life that sparkled like crystal. It flowed out of the throne of God and the lamb. 2[ref]In the middle of its path and in the middle of the river reaching from one side to the other was the tree of life that produces twelve fruits—a different one each month—and the leaves of the tree are for healing the nations 3[ref]and there won’t be a curse any more.

The throne for God and the lamb will be in the city, and his slaves will be serving him. 4They will see his face, and his name on their foreheads. 5[ref]Nights won’t exist any more and they won’t need the light from a lamp or from the sun because the master God will illuminate them, and they will reign through the ages.

9And came one of the seven messengers, which having the seven bowls, which being_full of_the seven plagues the last, and he_spoke with me saying:
Come, I_will_be_showing to_you the bride, the wife of_the lamb.
10And he_carried_away me in the_spirit to a_mountain great and high, and he_showed to_me the city the holy Hierousalaʸm/(Yərūshālayim), coming_down out_of the heaven from the god, 11having the glory of of_ the _god.
The radiance of_it similar to_a_stone most_precious, as to_a_stone jasper crystalizing, 12having a_wall great and high, having twelve gates, and at the gates twelve messengers, and names having_been_inscribed, which is of_the twelve tribes of_the_sons of_Israaʸl/(Yisəʼēl).
13From the_east three gates, and from the_north three gates, and from west three gates, and from the_south three gates.
14And the wall of_the city having twelve foundations, and in them the_twelve twelve names of_the ambassadors of_the lamb.
15And the one speaking with me was_having a_measure reed golden, in_order_that he_may_measure the city, and the gates of_it, and the wall of_it.
16And the city four_cornered is_lying, and the length of_it as_much_as the breadth.
And he_measured the city with_the reed at twelve stadiums thousands, the length, and the breadth, and the height of_it, equal is.
17And he_measured the wall of_it, of_a_hundred forty four cubits, a_measure of_human_origin that is also of_the_messenger.
18And was the structure of_the wall of_it was jasper, and the city was gold pure, similar to_glass clean.
19the foundations of_the wall of_the city with_every stone precious having_been_adorned.
The foundation the first was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, 20the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh hyacinth, the twelfth amethyst.
21And the twelve twelve gates were pearls, each one each of_the gates was of one pearl.
And the road of_the city was gold pure as glass transparent.
22And a_temple not I_saw in it, because/for the master the god the almighty the_temple of_it is, and the lamb.
23And the city neither need is_having of_the sun nor of_the moon that they_may_be_shining in_it, because/for the glory of_ the _god enlightened it, and the lamp of_it is the lamb.
24And will_be_walking the nations by the light of_it, and the kings of_the earth are_bringing the glory of_them into it.
25And the gates of_it by_no_means not may_be_shut by_day, because/for night not will_be there.
26And they_will_be_bringing the glory and the honour of_the nations into it.
27And by_no_means not may_come_in into it any unclean thing, and the one practicing abomination and a_falsehood, except not/lest the ones having_been_written in the scroll of_ the _life of_the lamb.
22And he_showed to_me a_river of_water of_life shining as crystal, going_out out_of the throne of_ the _god and of_the lamb.
2In the_middle of_the road of_it and of_the river, from_here and from_there, the_tree of_life producing twelve fruits, according_to month each to_be_giving_back the fruit of_it, and the leaves of_the tree are for the_healing of_the nations.
3And any curse not will_be anymore.
And the throne of_ the _god and of_the lamb in it will_be, and the slaves of_him will_be_serving unto_him.
4And they_will_be_seeing the face of_him, and the name of_him on the foreheads of_them.
5And night not will_be anymore, and not they_are_having need of_the_light of_a_lamp and of_the_light of_the_sun, because the_master the god is_illuminating on them, and they_will_be_reigning to the ages of_the ages.

22:6 Yeshua’s return

6Then he said to me, “These messages are faithful and true, and the master, the God of the spirits of the prophets, sent his messenger out to show his slaves what’s planned to happen soon.”

7“Yes, listen, I’m coming soon. Whoever follows the messages of the prophecy on this scroll will be blessed.”

8I, Yohan, am the one who saw and heard all those things, and when I heard and saw them, I knelt down to worship at the feet of the messenger who showed them to me. 9But he told me, Hey, no! I’m a fellow slave of you and of your brothers the prophets and of the ones who obey the words of this book. Worship God.” 10Then he continued, “Don’t seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, because the time is near. 11Those who disobey God can continue to do so and those who’re filthy can continue to be so, but those who obey God should continue to obey, and those who’re godly should continue to be godly.”[ref]

12(Yeshua says,)Listen, I’m coming back soon, bringing my reward to distribute to each person according to their behaviour.[ref] 13I’m the A and the Z—the first and the last—the beginning and the end.[ref]

14Blessed are those who’re washing their robes so that they’ll have authority over the tree of life (MEANING???) and so that they’ll be able to enter the city through the gates.[ref] 15On the contrary, those outside the city are dogs and sorcerers, the sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and everyone loving and exhibiting dishonesty.

16“I, Yeshua, have sent my messenger to explain these things to you concerning the churches. I am both David’s source and his descendant—the bright morning star.”[ref]

17The spirit and the bride say, ‘Come.’[ref]

Anyone who hears this should also say, ‘Come.’

Anyone who’s thirsty to live forever should come. Anyone who wants it can take the water that gives life free of charge.

6And he_said to_me:
These the messages are faithful and true, and the master, the god of_the spirits of_the prophets, sent_out the messenger of_him, to_show to_the slaves of_him which things it_is_fitting to_become in quickness.
7And see, I_am_coming quickly.
Blessed is the one keeping the messages of_the prophecy of_ the _scroll this.
8And_I Yōannaʸs am the one seeing.
and hearing These things.
And when I_heard and I_saw, I_fell to_prostrate before the feet of_the messenger which showing to_me these things.
9And he_is_saying to_me:
Be_seeing to_it not, a_fellow-slave of_you I_am and of_the brothers of_you, the prophets, and of_the ones keeping the messages of_ the _scroll this.
The before_god prostrate.
10And he_is_saying to_me:
Not you_may_seal the messages of_the prophecy of_ the _scroll this, the for time near is.
11The one doing_wrong, him_let_do_wrong still, and the filthy, him _let_be_being_filthy still, and the righteous, righteousness him_let_practice still, and the holy, him _let_be_sanctified still.
12Behold, I_am_coming quickly, and the reward of_me with me, to_give_back to_each as the work is of_him.
13I am the first_letter and the last_letter, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.
14Blessed are the ones washing the robes of_them, in_order_that it_will_be the right of_them to the tree of_ the _life, and by_the gates they_may_come_in into the city.
15Outside are the dogs, and the sorcerers, and the the_sexually_immoral, and the murderers, and the idolaters, and everyone loving and practicing falsehood.
16I, Yaʸsous/(Yəhōshūˊa), sent the messenger of_me, to_testify to_you_all these things in the assemblies.
I am the root and the descent of_Dawid/(Dāvid), the star the shining, the morning.
17And the spirit and the bride are_saying:
Be_coming.
And the one hearing him_let_say:
Be_coming.
And the one thirsting let_be_coming, the one wanting him_let_take the_water of_life undeservedly.

22:18 Farewell

18[ref]I am testifying to everyone who hears the prophecies written in this document: If anyone adds to these words, then God will add to them the plagues written in this document. 19And if anyone takes away any of this prophetic document, then God will take away their share in the tree of life and in the holy city that’s written about in this document.

20The one who testified about these things says: ‘Yes, I’m coming quickly.’

May it be so. Come, master Yeshua.

21May the grace from the master Yeshua be with the godly people.

1:13 It’s not certain what was meant here: either ‘a man who looked like humanity’s child’ or ‘a form that looked like a human man’.

2:7 Nicolaus’ disciples ate food that had been sacrificed to idols and committed sexual sins.

2:15 They eat food that has been sacrificed to idols, and they commit sexual sins.

3:15 TC: Some manuscripts don’t have this parenthesised sentence at all, and some later manuscripts have ‘I wish’ instead of ‘You’d benefit’.

8:5 The Greek doesn’t specify whether or not the bowl itself was included.

9:1 It’s ambiguous in the Greek whether the key was given to the messenger or the star, or possibly the falling star was the messenger.

13:18 There are some manuscripts that have the number as 616 (XIS) rather than 666 (XES). See https://GreekCNTR.org/collation/?v=66013018.

15:2 TC: There’s a textual variant here where some manuscripts have ‘εθνων’ (nations) and other readings instead of the older reading: ‘αἰώνων’ (ages).

18:2 There’s some manuscript variations here, and so some translations also mention wild animals.

21:17 It’s not stated if that’s the height or the thickness of the city wall.
