In the year of three to the reign of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, came, to Jerusalem and besieged against it. 2 And the Lord gave into his hand Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and some of the vessels of the house of God. And he brought them, to the land of Shinar, to the house of his god, and he brought the vessels, into the house of treasure of his god. 3 Then the king told Ashpenaz, the chief of his eunuchs, to bring from the sons of Israel, both from the seed of the kingdom and from the nobles, 4 youths in whom was not any blemish and, who were good of appearance and being skillful in all wisdom and knowers of knowledge and understanders of knowledge and in whom was strength to stand in the palace of the king, and to teach them the writing and tongue of the Chaldeans. 5 And the king assigned to them the matter of a day in its day from the portion of the king and from the wine of his drinking, and three years for their upbringing, and from the end of them they would stand to the face of the king. 6 And among them from the sons of Judah were Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. 7 And the chief of the eunuchs gave names to them. And to Daniel, he gave Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, Shadrach; and to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abednego.

8 But Daniel set upon his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king or with the wine of his drinking. So he sought from the chief of the eunuchs that he would not defile himself. 9 And God gave Daniel to favor and to compassions to the face of the chief of the eunuchs. 10 And the chief of the eunuchs said to Daniel, “I, I fear my lord the king, who has assigned your food and your drink. For why should he see your faces looking worse than the youths who, are like your age? Then you would endanger my head with the king.” 11 Then Daniel said to the steward whom the chief of the eunuchs had assigned over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, 12 “Please test your servants, for ten days, and let them give to us from vegetables, and let us eat, and water, and let us drink. 13 Then let our appearances be seen to your face, and the appearance of the youths eating the portion of the king, and according to what you see, do with your servants.”

14 And he listened to them in this matter, and he tested them, for ten days. 15 And at the end of ten days, their appearances, it was seen better and fatter of flesh than all of the youths eating the portion of the king. 16 So the steward was taking away their portion and the wine of their drinkings, and he was giving vegetables to them.

17 And these four youths, God gave to them knowledge and skill in all writing and wisdom, and Daniel understood all visions and dreams. 18 And at the end of the days, when the king had said to bring them in, then the chief of the eunuchs brought them to the face of Nebuchadnezzar. 19 And the king spoke with them, and none was found from all of them like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. So they stood to the face of the king. 20 And every matter of wisdom, and understanding that the king sought from them, then he found them ten hands above all of the magicians, and enchanters who, were in all of his kingdom. 21 And Daniel was, there until the year of one to Cyrus the king.

2 And in the year of two to the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams. And his spirit was troubled, and his sleep finished for him. 2 Then the king said to call the magicians and the enchanters and the sorcerers and the Chaldeans to declare to the king his dreams. And they came, and they stood to the face of the king. 3 And the king said to them, “I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit is troubled to know the dream.” 4 Then the Chaldeans said to the king, in Aramaic, “O King, live forever! Tell the dream to your servants, and we will show the interpretation.” 5 The king answered and was saying to the Chaldeans, “The word from me, is firm. If you do not make me know the dream and its interpretation, you will be made, into limbs, and your houses will be made a rubbish heap. 6 But if you show the dream and its interpretation, you will receive gifts, a reward, and great honor from before me. Therefore, show me the dream and its interpretation.” 7 They answered again and were saying, “Let the king tell the dream to his servants, and we will show the interpretation.” 8 The king answered and was saying, “I am knowing for certain that you are buying time all before that you see that the word from me is firm. 9 But if you do not make me know the dream, your decree is one. For you have agreed together to speak a false and corrupted word before me until that the time is changed. Therefore, tell the dream to me, and I will know that you do show me its interpretation.” 10 The Chaldeans answered before the king and were saying, “There is not a man upon the earth who is able to show the matter of the king, all before that any great and powerful king has not asked a matter like this from any magician or enchanter or Chaldean. 11 For the matter that the king asks, is difficult, and there is not another who will show, it before the king except the gods, who, their dwelling is not with flesh.” 12 All before this, the king became angry and became very furious, and he said to destroy all of the wise men of Babylon. 13 And the decree went out that the wise men were to be killed. And they sought Daniel and his friends, to be killed.

14 Then Daniel replied with prudence and discretion to Arioch the captain of the guard of the king, who had gone out to kill the wise men of Babylon. 15 He answered, saying to Arioch, the commander of the king, “Upon what, is the decree from before the king being urgent?” Then Arioch made Daniel know the matter. 16 Then Daniel went in and sought from the king that he give time to him, that he might show the interpretation to the king.

17 Then Daniel went to his house, and he made Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his friends, know the matter, 18 that they might seek mercies from before the God of the heavens concerning this mystery, that they might not destroy Daniel and his friends with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. 19 Then the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision of the night. Then Daniel blessed the God of the heavens. 20 Daniel answered and was saying,

“May his name, of God, be blessed from eternity and to eternity,

for wisdom and power, for, they are to him.

21 And he, is the one changing times and seasons,

the one removing kings and setting up kings,

the one giving wisdom to the wise

and knowledge to the knowers of understanding.

22 He is revealing the deep and the hidden;

he knows what, is in the darkness,

and the light is lodged with him.

23 God of my fathers, I am thanking and praising, you,

for you have given wisdom and power to me.

And now, you have made me know what we sought from you,

for you have made us know the matter of the king.”

24 All before this, Daniel went in to Arioch, whom the king had appointed to destroy the wise men of Babylon. He went, and thus he said to him, “May you not destroy the wise men of Babylon. Bring me in before the king, and I will show the interpretation to the king.”

25 Then Arioch, in hastening himself, brought Daniel in before the king, and thus he said to him, that “I have found a man from the sons of the captivity of Judah who will make the king know the interpretation.” 26 The king answered and was saying to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, “Are you being able to make me know the dream that I saw and its interpretation?” 27 Daniel answered before the king and said, “The mystery that the king has asked, wise men, enchanters, magicians, diviners, are not being able to show to the king. 28 However, there is a God in the heavens revealing mysteries, and he has made King Nebuchadnezzar know that which will be at the end of days. Your dream and the visions of your head upon your bed was this. 29 You, O king, your thoughts arose upon your bed, about that which will be after this, and the revealer of mysteries has made you know that which will be. 30 And I, this mystery has been revealed to me not because of wisdom that is in me more than all of the living, but for the purpose that they may make the king know the interpretation and you may know the thoughts of your heart.

31 You, O King, were looking, and behold, a huge statue. This statue, was great, and its splendor, was exceeding. It stood before you, and its appearance was terrifying. 32 This statue, its head, was of fine gold; its chest and arms, of silver; its belly and its thighs, of bronze; 33 its legs, of iron; its feet, some of them of iron and some of them of clay. 34 You were looking until that a stone was cut out, but not by hands, and it struck the statue on its feet of iron and clay, and it crushed them. 35 Then at once the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold crumbled, and they became like the chaff of the threshing floors of summer. And the wind carried them away, and any place was not found for them. But the stone that struck the statue became a great mountain, and it filled all of the earth.

36 This, was the dream. And we will tell its interpretation before the king. 37 You, O king, are the king of kings to whom the God of the heavens has given the kingdom, the power, the strength, and the glory. 38 And in everywhere that are dwelling the sons of man, the beast of the field, and the bird of the heavens, he has given into your hand, and he has made you rule over all of them. You are the head of gold. 39 And after you another kingdom will arise, earthward from you, and a third kingdom, another, of bronze, that will rule over all of the earth. 40 And a fourth kingdom will be, strong as iron, all before that iron is crushing and shattering everything. And like iron that is breaking, it will crush and break all of these. 41 And that you saw the feet and the toes, some of them clay of a potter and some of them iron, it will be a divided kingdom. For some of the firmness of iron will be in it, all before that you saw iron mixed with the clay of mire. 42 And, as the toes of the feet, some of them, were iron and some of them, were clay, some of the kingdom will be strong and some of it will be brittle. 43 That you saw the iron mixed with the clay of mire, they will be mixing themselves by the seed of man, but they will not be cleaving this with this, even as iron does not mix itself with clay. 44 And in the days of those kings, the God of the heavens will set up a kingdom that will not be destroyed to eternities, and the kingdom will not be left to another people. It will crush and finish all of these kingdoms, but it, it will stand to eternities. 45 All before that you saw that a stone was cut from a mountain, but not by hands, and it crushed the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold, the great God has made the king know that which will be after this. And the dream, is certain and its interpretation, is confirmed.”

46 Then King Nebuchadnezzar fell on his face and worshiped Daniel, and he said to present an offering and incense to him. 47 The king answered and was saying to Daniel, “In truth that your God is the God of gods and the Lord of kings and the revealer of mysteries, for you have been able to reveal this mystery.” 48 Then the king made Daniel great, and he gave many great gifts to him, and he made him rule over all of the province of Babylon and chief of the governors over all of the wise men of Babylon. 49 And Daniel sought from the king, and he appointed Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego over the work of the province of Babylon. But Daniel, was at the gate of the king.

3 King Nebuchadnezzar made a statue of gold. Its height, was sixty cubits. Its width, was six cubits. He set it up on the Plain of Dura in the province of Babylon. 2 And King Nebuchadnezzar sent to assemble the satraps, the prefects, and the governors, the counselors, the treasurers, the judges, the magistrates, and all of the rulers of the provinces to come to the dedication of the statue that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up. 3 Then the satraps, the prefects, and the governors, the counselors, the treasurers, the judges, the magistrates, and all of the rulers of the provinces were assembling themselves for the dedication of the statue that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up. And they were standing before the statue that Nebuchadnezzar had set up. 4 And a herald called out in strength, “One is commanding you, peoples, nations, and languages, 5 at the time when you hear the sound of the horn, pipe, lyre, trigon, harp, bagpipe, and all kinds of music, you shall fall down and worship the statue of gold that King Nebuchadnezzar has set up. 6 But who that does not fall down and worship, in that moment he will be thrown into the midst of a furnace of blazing fire.” 7 All before this, at that time in which all of the peoples heard the sound of the horn, pipe, lyre, trigon, harp and all kinds of music, all of the peoples, nations, and languages, falling down, were worshiping the golden statue that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up.

8 All before this, at that time men, Chaldeans, approached and ate the pieces of the Jews. 9 They answered and were saying to King Nebuchadnezzar, “O king, live to eternities! 10 You, O king, have set a decree that every man who hears the sound of the horn, pipe, lyre, trigon, harp, and bagpipe and all kinds of music shall fall down and worship the golden statue 11 and who that does not fall down and worship will be thrown into the midst of a furnace of blazing fire. 12 There are men, Jews, whom you have appointed them over the work of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. These men do not set regard on you, O king. They are not serving your gods, and they are not worshiping the golden statue that you have set up.”

13 Then Nebuchadnezzar in rage and heat said to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Then they brought these men before the king. 14 Nebuchadnezzar answered and was saying to them, “Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, you are not serving my gods and not worshiping the golden statue that I have set up? 15 Now if you are ready, that at the moment when you hear the sound of the horn, pipe, lyre, trigon, harp, and bagpipe and all kinds of music, you fall down and worship the statue that I have made; but if you do not worship, in that moment you will be thrown into the midst of a furnace of blazing fire. And who is the god who will deliver you from my hand?” 16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and were saying to the king, “Nebuchadnezzar, we are not needing to answer you about this matter. 17 If it is, our God whom we are serving is able to deliver us from the furnace of blazing fire, and he will deliver us from your hand, O king. 18 But if not, may it be known to you, O king, that we will not be serving your gods, and we will not worship the golden image that you have set up.”

19 Then Nebuchadnezzar was filled, with heat, and the image of his face was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. He answered and was saying to heat the furnace one seven more than had been seen to heat it. 20 And he told men, men of valor who, were in his army, to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to throw, them into the furnace of blazing fire. 21 Then they bound these men in their cloaks, their tunics, their turbans, and their garments, and they threw, them into the midst of the furnace of blazing fire. 22 All before this, from that the word of the king was being urgent and the furnace was extremely heated, those men who brought up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, the flame of the fire killed them. 23 And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell into the midst of the furnace of blazing fire bound.

24 Then King Nebuchadnezzar marveled, and he stood up in hastening himself. He answered and was saying to his counselors, “Did we not throw three men into the midst of the fire bound?” They answered and were saying to the king, “True, O king.” 25 He answered and was saying, “Behold, I am seeing four men loosened walking about in the midst of the fire, and harm is not upon them. And the appearance of the fourth resembles a son of the gods.” 26 Then Nebuchadnezzar approached to the door of the furnace of blazing fire. He answered and was saying, “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, his servants, of the Most High God, come out and come, here!” Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were coming out from the midst of the fire. 27 And assembling themselves, the satraps, the prefects, the governors, and the counselors of the king were seeing these men, that the fire had not ruled over their bodies. For the hair of their heads was not singed and their cloaks had not changed and the smell of fire had not passed onto them.

28 Nebuchadnezzar answered and was saying, “Blessed, be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who sent his angel and delivered his servants who entrusted themselves to him and changed the word of the king and gave up their bodies that they might not serve and not worship any god except their God. 29 And from me a decree is set that any people, nation, or language that says anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego will be made, into limbs and its house be made a rubbish heap, all before that there is not another god that is able to rescue like this.” 30 Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the province of Babylon.

4 King Nebuchadnezzar, to all of the peoples, nations, and languages that are dwelling in all of the earth. May your peace abound. 2 It has seemed good before me to make known the signs and wonders that the Most High God has done with me.

3 How great, are his signs,

and how mighty, are his wonders!

His kingdom, is a kingdom of eternity,

and his dominion, is with generation and generation.

4 I, Nebuchadnezzar, was being secure in my house and prosperous in my palace. 5 I saw a dream and it frightened me. And the thoughts upon my bed and the visions of my head alarmed me. 6 And a decree was set from me to bring before me all of the wise men of Babylon, that they might make me know the interpretation of the dream. 7 Then the magicians, the enchanters, the Chaldeans, and the diviners were coming in, and I was telling the dream before them, but they were not making me know its interpretation. 8 And until another came in before me, Daniel, whose name, is Belteshazzar, according to the name of my god, and in whom, is the spirit of the holy gods, and I told the dream before him. 9 “Belteshazzar, chief of the magicians, because I am knowing that the spirit of the holy gods, is in you and every mystery is not constraining you, tell, me the visions of my dream that I have seen and its interpretation. 10 And the visions of my head upon my bed: I was looking, and behold, a tree in the midst of the earth, and its height, was great. 11 The tree became great, and it became strong, and its height reached to the heavens, and its sight, to the end of all of the earth. 12 Its foliage, was beautiful, and its fruit, was great, and food for all, was in it. The beast of the field had shade beneath it, and the birds of the heavens dwelled in its branches, and all flesh was fed from it. 13 I was looking in the visions of my head upon my bed, and behold, a watcher and a holy, one was coming down from the heavens. 14 He called out in strength, and thus he was saying, ‘Cut down the tree and cut off its branches, shake off its foliage, and scatter its fruit. Let the beast flee from beneath it, and the birds, from its branches. 15 But leave the stump of its roots in the earth, and with a band of iron and bronze, in the grass of the field. And let it be wet with the dew of the heavens, and, let its portion, be with the beast in the grass of the earth. 16 Let his heart be changed from a man, and let the heart of a beast be given to him, and let seven times pass over him. 17 The matter, is by a decree of the watchers, and the decision, is from a command of the holy ones, for the purpose that the living may know that the Most High is ruler over the kingdom of man, and to whom that he wishes, he gives it, and he sets up over it the lowest of men.’ 18 I saw this dream, I, King Nebuchadnezzar. And you, Belteshazzar, tell the interpretation, all before that all of the wise men of my kingdom are not being able to make me know the interpretation. But you are being able because the spirit of the holy gods, is in you.”

19 Then Daniel, whose name, was Belteshazzar, was appalled for a moment, and his thoughts alarmed him. The king answered and was saying, “Belteshazzar, may the dream and the interpretation not alarm you.” Belteshazzar answered and was saying, “My lord, may the dream, be for the ones hating you and its interpretation, for your enemies. 20 The tree that you saw, which became great and became strong, and its height reached to the heavens and its sight, to all of the earth, 21 and its foliage, was beautiful, and its fruit, was great, and food for all, was in it; under it the beast of the field dwelled, and in its branches the birds of the heavens resided, 22 it, is you, O king, who have become great and have become strong. And your greatness has become great and has reached to the heavens, and your dominion, to the end of the earth. 23 And that the king saw a watcher and a holy one coming down from the heavens and saying, ‘Cut down the tree and destroy it, but leave the stump of its roots in the earth, and with a band of iron and bronze, in the grass of the field, and let it be wet with the dew of the heavens, and let its portion be with the beast of the field until that seven times pass over him,’ 24 this, is the interpretation, O king, and it, is the decree of the Most High that has come upon my lord the king, 25 that they will be driving you from man, and your dwelling will be with the beast of the field. And they will feed you grass like oxen, and they will be wetting you with the dew of the heavens. And seven times will pass over you until that you know that the Most High, is ruler over the kingdom of man and to whom that he wishes, he gives it. 26 And that they said to leave the stump of the roots of the tree, your kingdom, will be enduring for you from that you know that the heavens, are ruler. 27 Therefore, O king, may my counsel seem good to you, and may you break off your sin in righteousness and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor, if there may be a prolonging of your prosperity.”

28 The whole came upon King Nebuchadnezzar. 29 At the end of 12 months, he was walking upon the palace of the kingdom of Babylon. 30 The king answered and was saying, “Is this not the great Babylon, which I, I have built it for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power and for the glory of my majesty?” 31 The word, was still in the mouth of the king; a voice fell from the heavens: “To you they are saying, O King Nebuchadnezzar, ‘The kingdom has passed from you. 32 And they will be driving you from man, and your dwelling will be with the beast of the field. They will feed you grass like oxen, and seven times will pass over you until that you know that the Most High, is ruler over the kingdom of man, and to whom that he wishes, he gives it.’ ” 33 In that moment, the word finished against Nebuchadnezzar. And he was driven from man, and he ate grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of the heavens until that his hair had become great like eagles and his nails, like birds.

34 But at the end of the days, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward the heavens, and my reason returned to me.

And I blessed the Most High,

and I praised and glorified the one living forever.

For his dominion is a dominion of eternity,

and his kingdom, is with generation and generation.

35 And all of the dwellers of the earth are being regarded, as nothing,

and as he wishes, he is doing among the army of the heavens and the dwellers of the earth.

And there is none who strikes his hand or says to him, “What are you doing?”

36 At that time my reason returned to me, and for the glory of my kingdom, my majesty and my splendor returned to me. And my counselors and my nobles sought me, and my kingdom was established to me, and exceeding greatness was added to me. 37 Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, am praising and exalting and glorifying the King of the heavens, for all of his deeds are truth and his ways are justice, and, those who are walking about in pride, he is able to humble.

5 King Belshazzar made a great feast for his nobles, a thousand, and he drank wine before the thousand. 2 Belshazzar said in the taste of the wine to bring the vessels of gold and silver that Nebuchadnezzar his father had taken out from the temple that, was in Jerusalem so that the king and his nobles, his wives and his concubines might drink from them. 3 Then they brought the vessels of gold that he had taken out from the temple of the house of God that, was in Jerusalem, and the king and his nobles, his wives and his concubines drank from them. 4 They drank wine, and they praised the gods of gold and silver, bronze, iron, wood, and stone.

5 In that moment, the fingers of the hand of a man came out, and they were writing, before the lampstand, on the plaster of the wall of the palace of the king. And the king was seeing the palm of the hand that was writing. 6 Then the king, his splendors changed, for him, and his thoughts alarmed him. And the joints of his loins were loosened, and his knees knocked, this to this. 7 The king called out in strength to bring in the enchanters, the Chaldeans, and the diviners. The king answered and was saying to the wise men of Babylon that, “Any man who reads this writing and shows me its interpretation shall wear purple, and a chain of gold, shall be around his neck, and he shall rule, as the third in the kingdom.” 8 Then all of the wise men of the king were coming in, but they were not being able to read the writing or to make the king know the interpretation. 9 Then King Belshazzar was being alarmed greatly, and his splendors were changing upon him, and his nobles were being perplexed.

10 The queen came in to the house of the banquet because of the words of the king and his nobles. The queen answered and said, “O king, live to eternities! May your thoughts not alarm you, and may your splendors not be changed. 11 There is a man in your kingdom in whom, is the spirit of the holy gods. And in the days of your father, light and understanding and wisdom like the wisdom of the gods were found in him. And King Nebuchadnezzar, your father, your father the king, set him up, as chief of the magicians, enchanters, Chaldeans, diviners, 12 all before that an excellent spirit and knowledge and understanding, interpreting of dreams and solving of riddles and loosening of knots, were found in him, Daniel, whom the king made his name Belteshazzar. Now let Daniel be called, and he will show the interpretation.”

13 Then Daniel was brought in before the king. The king answered and was saying to Daniel, “Are you Daniel, who, is from the sons of the captivity of Judah that my father the king brought from Judah? 14 Now I have heard about you that the spirit of the gods, is in you and light and understanding and excellent wisdom are found in you. 15 And now, the wise men, the enchanters, have been brought in before me that they might read this writing and make me know its interpretation, but they are not being able to show the interpretation of the matter. 16 But I, I have heard about you, that you are able to interpret interpretations and to loosen knots. And now, if you are able to read the writing and to make me know its interpretation, you shall wear purple and a chain of gold, shall be around your neck and you shall rule, as the third in the kingdom.”

17 Then Daniel answered and was saying before the king, “Let your gifts be for yourself, and give your rewards to another. Nevertheless, I will read the writing to the king and make him know the interpretation. 18 As for you, O king, the Most High God gave the kingdom and greatness and honor and majesty to Nebuchadnezzar your father. 19 And from the greatness that he gave to him, all peoples, nations, and languages were trembling and fearing from before him. Whom he was wishing, he was killing, and whom he was wishing, he was letting live. And whom he was wishing, he was lifting up, and whom he was wishing, he was humbling. 20 But because his heart lifted, itself up and his spirit became strong to be proud, he was brought down from the throne of his kingdom and they removed his glory from him. 21 And he was driven from the sons of man, and his heart resembled with an animal, and his dwelling, was with the wild donkeys. They fed him grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of the heavens, until that he knew that the Most High God, is ruler over the kingdom of man and whom that he wishes, he sets up over it. 22 But you, his son, Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, all before that you knew all of this. 23 But you have lifted yourself up against the Lord of the heavens. And the vessels of his house have been brought before you, and you and your nobles, your wives and your concubines have been drinking wine from them, and the gods of silver and gold, bronze, iron, wood, and stone, which are not seeing and are not hearing and are not knowing, you have praised, but the God who, your breath, is in his hand and all of your ways, are to him, you have not honored. 24 Then from before him the palm of a hand was sent, and this writing was inscribed.

25 And this, is the writing that was inscribed: ‘Mene,’ ‘Mene,’ ‘Tekel,’ and ‘Parsin.’ 26 This, is the interpretation of the matter. ‘Mene’: God has numbered your kingdom and ended it. 27 ‘Tekel’: you have been weighed on the scales and found deficient. 28 ‘Peres’: your kingdom has been divided and given to the Mede and the Persian.”

29 Then Belshazzar spoke, and they clothed Daniel, with purple and a chain of gold around his neck, and they made a proclamation about him, that he would be the third ruler in the kingdom. 30 In it, in the night, Belshazzar, the king, of the Chaldeans, was killed, 31 and Darius the Mede received the kingdom as a son of 62 years.

6 It seemed good before Darius, and he set up 120 satraps over the kingdom, who would be in all of the kingdom, 2 and above from them three sareks, among whom Daniel, was one, to whom these satraps were to be giving account, that the king might not be suffering loss. 3 Then this Daniel was distinguishing himself above the sareks and the satraps all before that an excellent spirit, was in him, and the king was minded to set him up over all of the kingdom.

4 Then the sareks and the satraps were seeking to find an occasion against Daniel regarding the kingdom, but they were not being able to find any occasion or corrupted, thing, all before that he could be trusted, and any negligence or corrupted, thing was not found in him. 5 Then these men were saying that, “We will not find any occasion against this Daniel unless we find, something against him regarding the law of his God.” 6 Then these sareks and satraps thronged to the king, and thus they were saying to him, “King Darius, live to eternities! 7 All of the sareks of the kingdom, the prefects and the satraps, the counselors and the governors, have consulted together that the king should establish a statute and make strong a decree that anyone who petitions a petition from any god or man for 30 days, except from you, O king, shall be thrown into a den of lions. 8 Now, O king, set up the decree and sign the writing so that one shall not change, it, according to the law of the Mede and the Persian, which does not pass away.” 9 All before this, King Darius signed the writing and the decree.

10 And Daniel, when that he knew that the writing had been signed, went in to his house (now the windows to him in his upper chamber were opened toward Jerusalem), and three times in a day he was kneeling on his knees and praying and thanking before his God, all before that he was doing from before this. 11 Then these men thronged and found Daniel petitioning and entreating before his God. 12 Then they approached and were saying before the king about the decree of the king: “Did you not sign a decree that any man who petitions from any god or man for thirty days, except from you, O king, shall be thrown into a den of lions?” The king answered and was saying, “The matter, is certain, according to the law of the Mede and the Persian, which does not pass away.” 13 Then they answered and were saying before the king that, “Daniel, who, is from the sons of the captivity of Judah, does not set regard on you, O king, or on the decree that you have signed, but three times in a day he is petitioning his petition.” 14 Then the king, when that he heard the matter, it was greatly displeasing to him, and he set his heart on Daniel to deliver him. And until the setting of the sun, he was exerting himself to rescue him. 15 Then these men thronged to the king and were saying to the king, “Know, O king, that, it is a law to the Mede and the Persian that any decree or statute that the king establishes, one shall not change.”

16 Then the king was speaking, and they brought Daniel and threw, him into a den of lions. The king answered and was saying to Daniel, “Your God, whom you are serving him in continuance, he, may he deliver you.” 17 And a stone was brought and set over the mouth of the den, and the king sealed it with his signet ring and with the signet rings of his nobles so that the purpose should not change regarding Daniel. 18 Then the king went to his palace and spent the night fasting. And one did not bring musical instruments before him, and his sleep departed from him.

19 Then the king arose at first light, at dawn, and went in haste to the den of lions. 20 And as he came near to the den, to Daniel, he cried out in a pained voice. The king answered and was saying to Daniel, “Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you are serving him in continuance, been able to deliver you from the lions?” 21 Then Daniel was speaking with the king, “O king, live to eternities! 22 My God sent his angel and shut the mouth of the lions, and they have not harmed me, all before that innocence was found to me before him, and also before you, O king, I have done no harm.” 23 Then the king rejoiced greatly about him, and he said to bring Daniel up from the den. And Daniel was brought up from the den, and any harm was not found in him, because he had trusted in his God.

24 And the king spoke, and they brought those men who had eaten the pieces of Daniel, and they threw them, their sons, and their wives into the den of lions. And they had not reached the bottom of the den before that the lions overpowered them and crushed all of their bones. 25 Then King Darius wrote to all of the peoples, nations, and languages that were dwelling in all of the earth, “May your peace abound. 26 From before me a decree is set that in all of the dominion of my kingdom, they shall be trembling and fearing from before the God of Daniel,

for he, is the living God

and enduring to eternities,

and his kingdom, is one that will not be destroyed,

and his dominion, will be to the end.

27 delivering and rescuing

and doing signs and wonders

in the heavens and on the earth,

who delivered Daniel from the hand of the lions.”

28 And this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.

7 In the year of one to Belshazzar, the king of Babylon, Daniel saw a dream and visions of his head upon his bed. Then he wrote the dream; he told the head of the matters. 2 Daniel answered and was saying, “I was looking in my vision by night, and behold, the four winds of the heavens were stirring up the Great Sea. 3 And four great beasts were coming up from the sea, this being different from this. 4 The first, was like a lion, but the wings of an eagle, were to it. I was looking until that its wings were pulled off, and it was raised from the ground, and it was stood on two feet like a man, and the heart of a man was given to it. 5 And behold, another beast, a second, resembling a bear. And on one side, it was raised up. And three ribs, were in its mouth between its teeth, and thus they were saying to it, ‘Arise, devour much flesh.’ 6 After this I was looking, and behold, another, like a leopard, and to it, were the four wings of a bird upon its back. And four heads, were to the beast, and dominion was given to it. 7 After this I was looking in visions of the night, and behold, a fourth beast, making afraid and terrible and exceedingly strong. And great teeth of iron, were to it. It devoured and crushed, and it was trampling the rest with its feet. And it was being different from all of the beasts that, were before it, and ten horns (were) to it. 8 I was considering the horns, and behold, another horn, little, was coming up among them, and three of the first horns were uprooted from before it. And behold, eyes like the eyes of a man, were in this horn, and a mouth speaking great, things.

9 I was looking

until that thrones were set,

and the Ancient of Days sat down.

His clothing, was white as snow,

and the hair of his head, was like pure wool.

His throne, was flames of fire;

its wheels, were burning fire.

10 A river of fire was flowing

and coming out from before him;

a thousand of thousands served him,

and a myriad of myriads stood before him.

The court sat,

and books were opened.

11 I was looking then from the sound of the great words that the horn was speaking. I was looking until that the beast was killed and its body was destroyed and it was given to the burning fire. 12 And the rest of the beasts, they took away their dominion, but a prolonging in life was given to them for a season and a time.

13 I was looking in visions of the night,

and behold, with the clouds of the heavens

one like a son of man was coming,

and he reached to the Ancient of Days,

and they brought him near before him.

14 And to him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom,

that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him.

His dominion, is a dominion of eternity that will not pass away,

and his kingdom, is one that will not be destroyed.

15 My spirit was distressed, I, Daniel, in the midst of the body, and the visions of my head were alarming me. 16 I approached to one of the ones standing, and I sought from him the truth about all of this. And he told me, and he made me know the interpretation of the matters. 17 ‘These great beasts, which are four, are four kings arising from the earth. 18 But the saints of the Most High will receive the kingdom, and they will possess the kingdom to eternity and to eternity of eternities.’ 19 Then I wished to be certain about the fourth beast, which was being different from all of them, making afraid exceedingly, its teeth of iron and its claws of bronze, devouring, crushing, and trampling the rest with its feet, 20 and about the ten horns that, were on its head and the other that came up and three fell from before it, even that horn that eyes, were to it and a mouth speaking great, things and its appearance, was greater than its fellows. 21 I was looking, and this horn was making war with the saints, and it was prevailing against them, 22 until that the Ancient of Days came, and judgment was given for the saints of the Most High. And the time came, and the saints possessed the kingdom.

23 Thus he was saying, ‘The fourth beast will be a fourth kingdom on the earth, which will be different from all of the kingdoms. And it will devour all of the earth, and it will trample it and crush it. 24 And the ten horns, from this kingdom, ten kings will arise, and another will arise after them. And he will be different from the first, ones, and he will humble three kings. 25 And he will speak words against the Most High, and he will wear out the saints of the Most High. And he will intend to change the times and the law. And they will be given into his hand for a time and times and half of a time. 26 But the court will sit, and they will take away his dominion, to consume and destroy, it to the end. 27 and the kingdom and the dominion and the greatness of the kingdoms under all of the heavens will be given to the people of the saints of the Most High. His kingdom, will be a kingdom of eternity, and all dominions will serve and make themselves hear him.’

28 To here, is the end of the matter. I, Daniel, my thoughts were alarming me greatly, and my splendors changed upon me. But I kept the matter in my heart.”

8 In the year of three to the reign of King Belshazzar, a vision appeared to me, me, Daniel, after the one having appeared to me at the first. 2 And I saw in the vision, and it was as I saw, that I, was in Susa the citadel, which, is in Elam the province. And I saw in the vision that I was by the canal of Ulai. 3 And I lifted up my eyes and saw, and behold, a ram standing to the face of the canal. And to it, were two horns, and the two horns, were high, but the one was higher than the second, and the higher came up afterward. 4 I saw the ram goring westward and northward and southward, and all of the beasts did not stand to its face, and there was none delivering from its hand. And it did according to its will, and it became great.

5 And I, I was observing, and behold, a male of the goats was coming from the west over the face of all of the earth but without touching the earth. And the male, goat, a horn of vision, was between its eyes. 6 And it came to the ram, the master of two horns, which I had seen standing to the face of the canal, and it ran at it in the heat of its power. 7 And I saw it arriving beside the ram, and it was embittered at it, and it struck the ram and shattered the two of its horns. And the ram was not strong to stand to its face. And it cast it to the earth and trampled it, and none was delivering the ram from its hand. 8 Then the male of the goats became great unto much. But when it was mighty, the great horn was broken, and in its place four, horns of vision came up toward the four winds of the heavens.

9 And from one of them a little horn came forth, and it became great exceedingly toward the south and toward the east and toward the Beauty. 10 And it became great to the army of the heavens. And it made fall to the earth some of the army and some of the stars, and it trampled them. 11 And it became great to the commander of the army. And the perpetual sacrifice was removed from him, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down. 12 And because of transgression, an army will be given over with the perpetual sacrifice, and it will cast truth to the ground. And it will do and succeed. 13 And I heard a holy one speaking, and a holy one said to the particular one speaking, “Until when, is the vision, of the perpetual sacrifice and the desolating transgression, the giving, of both the sanctuary and the army for trampling?” 14 And he said to me, “Until evening, morning, 2,300. Then the sanctuary will be made right.”

15 And it was when I had seen the vision, I, Daniel, that I sought understanding. And behold, one standing to my face according to the appearance of a man. 16 And I heard the voice of a man between the Ulai, and he called and said, “Gabriel, make this one understand the appearance.” 17 And he came beside my standing. And when he came, I was frightened, and fell on my face. But he said to me, “Understand, son of man, that the vision, is for the time of the end.” 18 And when he was speaking with me, I fell deeply asleep with my face to the ground. But he touched me and made me stand on my standing. 19 And he said, “Behold me, making you know what will happen at the end of the indignation, for, it is for the appointed time, of the end. 20 The ram that you saw, a master of two horns, is the kings of Media and Persia. 21 The male goat, is the king of Javan, and the great horn that, was between its eyes, it, is the first king. 22 And, as for the broken, one and the four, that arose in its place, four kingdoms will stand from, that nation, but not with its power. 23 And at the end of their rule, when transgressors are complete, a king will stand, strong of face and understanding riddles. 24 And his power will be mighty, but not by his power. And being marvelous, he will destroy, and he will succeed and do. And he will destroy the mighty and the people of the holy, ones. 25 And by his cunning, he will also make deceit succeed under his hand. And in his heart, he will make, himself great, and he will destroy many in security. And he will stand against the Prince of princes, but he will be broken by no hand. 26 And the appearance of the evening and the morning that was told, it, is true. But you, close up the vision, for it is for many days.” 27 Then I, Daniel, was finished, and I was sickened, for days. Then I arose and did the business of the king. But I was desolate at the vision and not understanding.

9 In the year of one to Darius, the son of Ahasuerus, from the seed of Madai, who had been made king over the kingdom of the Chaldeans, 2 in the year of one to his reigning, I, Daniel, perceived in the scrolls the number of years that was the word of Yahweh to Jeremiah the prophet for the filling of the desolations of Jerusalem, seventy years.

3 And I set my face to the Lord God, to seek, him by prayer and supplications with fasting and sackcloth and ashes. 4 And I prayed to Yahweh my God, and I confessed and said, “Oh Lord, the great and feared God, the one keeping covenant and covenant faithfulness to the ones loving him and to the keepers of his commandments, 5 we have sinned and committed iniquity and acted wickedly and rebelled, turning away from your commandments and your judgments. 6 And we have not listened to your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all of the people of the land. 7 To you, Lord, is righteousness, but to us, is shame of faces as this day, to a man of Judah and to the dwellers of Jerusalem and to all of Israel, the near and the far in all of the lands where you have driven them there for their transgression that they transgressed against you. 8 Yahweh, to us, is shame of faces, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against you. 9 To the Lord our God, may there be compassion and forgiveness, for we have rebelled against him, 10 and we have not listened to the voice of Yahweh our God, to walk in his laws that he gave to our faces by the hand of his servants the prophets. 11 And all of Israel has transgressed your law and has turned away, not listening to your voice. And the oath has been poured out on us, and the curse, that is written in the law of Moses, the servant of God, because we have sinned against him. 12 And he has made stand his word that he spoke against us and against our judges who judged us, to bring great trouble upon us that has not been done under all of the heavens like what has been done to Jerusalem. 13 Like what is written in the law of Moses, all of this trouble has come upon us, but we have not entreated the face of Yahweh our God, to return from our iniquities and pay attention to your truth. 14 And Yahweh watched over the trouble and brought it upon us, for Yahweh our God, is righteous in all of his deeds that he has done, for we have not listened to his voice. 15 And now, Lord our God, who brought out your people from the land of Egypt with a mighty hand and made a name for yourself as this day, we have sinned, we have acted wickedly. 16 Lord, according to all of your righteousnesses, may your nose and your heat please turn back from your city, Jerusalem, the mountain of your holiness. For because of our sins and because of the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and your people, are for a reproach to all of, the ones around us. 17 And now, our God, listen to the prayer of your servant and to his supplications, and make your face shine on your desolate sanctuary, for the sake of the Lord. 18 Incline your ear, my God, and hear. Open your eyes and see our desolations and the city upon which your name is called. For we are not making our supplications fall to your face because of our righteousnesses but because of your great mercies. 19 Lord, hear! Lord, forgive! Lord, pay attention and act! For your sake, my God, may you not delay, for your name is called upon your city and upon your people.”

20 And I was still speaking and praying and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel and making my supplication fall to the face of Yahweh my God for the mountain of the holiness of my God, 21 and I was still speaking in prayer, and the man Gabriel whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning was flying in swiftness, reaching to me at the time of the offering of the evening. 22 And he made me understand and he spoke with me and said, “Daniel, I have now come forth to make you wise, for understanding. 23 At the beginning of your supplications, a word came forth, and I, I have come to declare, it, for you, are desirablenesses. So understand the word and understand the appearance.

24 Seventy sevens have been determined for your people and for the city of your holiness, to finish transgression and to seal up sins and to cover iniquity and to bring in righteousness of eternities and to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the Holy of Holies. 25 And may you know and understand, from the going forth of the word to return and to build Jerusalem until an anointed one, a ruler, there will be seven sevens and sixty and two sevens. It will return and it will be built, with a square and a trench, but in distress of times. 26 And after the sixty and two sevens, the anointed one will be cut off and nothing, will be to him. And the city and the sanctuary, the people of the coming ruler will destroy. And its end, will be with a flood, and war, will be until the end. Desolations are determined. 27 And he will strengthen a covenant with many, for one seven. And, in the middle of the seven, he will make the sacrifice and the offering cease. And on the wing of abominations, will be something making desolate, even until the completion, and the thing having been determined will be poured out upon the one desolating.”

10 In the year of three to Cyrus, the king of Persia, a word was revealed to Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar. And the word, was true, and the war was great. And he understood the word, and understanding, was to him about the vision. 2 In those days, I, Daniel, was mourning, for three weeks, of days. 3 I ate no bread of delight, and flesh and wine did not come into my mouth, and anointing, I did not anoint, myself until the filling of the three weeks, of days. 4 And on the day of twenty and four to the first month, as I was at the hand of the great river, it, is the Tigris, 5 then I lifted up my eyes and saw, and behold, a man clothed in linen, and his loins were girded with gold of Uphaz. 6 And his body, was like beryl, and his face, was like the appearance of lightning, and his eyes, were like torches of fire, and his arms and his feet, were like the eye of polished bronze, and the sound of his words, was like the sound of a multitude. 7 And I, Daniel, alone saw the appearance, for the men who were with me did not see the appearance. However, a great trembling fell on them, and they fled to hide themselves. 8 And I, I was left alone, and I saw this great appearance. And no strength remained in me, and my splendor was turned in me to destruction, and I retained no strength. 9 And I heard the sound of his words, and as I heard the sound of his words, then I, I was sleeping deeply upon my face, and my face, was to the ground.

10 Then behold, a hand touched me, and it made me totter on my knees and the palms of my hands. 11 And he said to me, “Daniel, man of delight, understand the words that I will be speaking to you. Stand on your standing, for now I have been sent to you.” And when he had spoken this word to me, I stood up trembling. 12 And he said to me, “May you not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and to humble yourself to the face of your God, your words were heard, and I, I have come because of your words. 13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia was standing against me, for twenty and one day. And behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I, I had been left there beside the kings of Persia. 14 And I have come to make you understand what will happen to your people at the end of days. For the vision, is yet for days.” 15 And while he was speaking with me according to these words, I put my face toward the ground, and I was silent. 16 And behold, one according to the likeness of the sons of man touched upon my lips. And I opened my mouth and spoke, and I said to the one standing in front of me: “My lord, because of the appearance, my pains have turned onto me, and I retain no strength. 17 And how shall this servant of my lord be able to speak with this my lord? And I, from now no strength stands in me, and breath is not left in me.”

18 And, the one according to the appearance of a man added and touched me, and he strengthened me. 19 And he said, “May you not fear, man of delight. Peace to you. Be strong and be strong.” And while he was speaking with me, I was strengthened, and I said, “May my lord speak, for you have strengthened me.” 20 And he said, “Do you know why I have come to you? But now I will return to fight against the prince of Persia. And I am going out, and behold, the prince of Javan will come. 21 But I will declare to you the inscribed in the Writing of Truth. And there is not one being strong with me against these except Michael, your prince.

11 And I, in the year of one to Darius the Mede, I stood as one strengthening and as a fortress for him. 2 And now, I will declare the truth to you. Behold, three more kings will be standing in Persia, and a fourth will become wealthy, with wealth greater than all. And according to his strength by his riches, he will awaken all against the kingdom of Javan. 3 Then a mighty king will stand, and he will rule, with great dominion, and he will do according to his will. 4 But as he stands, his kingdom will be broken and divided toward the four winds of the heavens, but not to his posterity, and not according to his dominion, by which he ruled. For his kingdom will be uprooted, and to others besides these.

5 Then the king of the south will become strong, but, one from his princes then will become stronger than him, and he will rule. His dominion, will be a great dominion. 6 And at the end of years, they will unite themselves. The daughter of the king of the south will come to the king of the north to make uprightnesses. But she will not retain the strength of the arm, and he will not stand, nor his arm. And she will be given up, she and the ones having brought her and the one having fathered her and the one strengthening her, in those times.

7 But from a branch of her roots, one will stand, in his place. And he will come against the army, and he will enter into the fortress of the king of the north. And he will do with them and be strong. 8 And also he will bring into captivity, to Egypt their gods with their metal images with the silver and gold vessels of their delight. And he, for years he will stand from the king of the north. 9 Then he will come into the kingdom of the king of the south, but he will return to his land.

10 And his sons will be stirred up, and they will assemble the multitude of a great army. And coming, it will come, and it will overflow and pass through, and it will return and be stirred up to his fortress. 11 Then the king of the south will embitter himself, and he will go out and fight with him, with the king of the north. And he will make a great multitude stand, but the multitude will be given into his hand, 12 and the multitude will be taken away. And his heart will rise up, for he will have made myriads fall, but he will not prevail. 13 For the king of the north will return and make stand a multitude greater than the first. And at the end of times, years, coming, he will come with a great army and with much equipment. 14 And in those times, many will stand against the king of the south. And sons of violence of your people will lift themselves up to make the vision stand, but they will stumble. 15 And the king of the north will come, and he will pour out a mound, and he will capture a city of fortifications. And the arms of the south will not stand, even his choice people, for there will be no strength to stand. 16 But the one coming against him will act according to his desire, and no one will be standing to his face. And he will stand in the land of beauty, and destruction, will be in his hand. 17 And he will set his face to come with the strength of all of his kingdom, and uprightnesses with him, thus he will do. And he will give a daughter of women to him, to ruin it. But it will not stand, and it will not be for him. 18 And he will turn his face to the coastlands, and he will capture many. But a commander will end his reproach, that is to him; without his, own reproach, he will return, it to him. 19 And he will turn his face to the fortresses of his land, but he will stumble and fall, and he will not be found.

20 And one making an exactor pass through the splendor of the kingdom will stand in his place. But in a few days he will be broken, but not in nostrils and not in battle. 21 And a despised one will stand in his place, and they will not give the splendor of the kingdom to him. And he will come in security, and he will seize the kingdom by intrigues. 22 And the arms of the flood will be swept away from to his face, and they will be broken, and also the leader of the covenant. 23 And after the joining together with him, he will act, with deceit. And he will go up, and he will become strong with a few of people. 24 In security he will come even into the fatnesses of the province, and he will do what his fathers and the fathers of his fathers did not do. He will scatter plunder and spoil and wealth to them, and he will devise his devices against fortifications, but until a time. 25 And he will awaken his strength and his heart against the king of the south with a great army. And the king of the south will be stirred up to battle with an army great and mighty unto much. But he will not stand, for they will devise devices against him. 26 Even the eaters of his portion will break him. And his army will be swept away, and many will fall slain. 27 And the two of them, the kings, their heart, will be to evil, and at one table they will speak falsehood. But it will not prosper, for the end, is still for the appointed time.

28 And he will return to his land with great wealth. And his heart, will be against the covenant of holiness. And he will act, and he will return to his land. 29 At the appointed time, he will return and come into the south. But it will not be like the former and like the latter. 30 For ships of Kittim will come against him, and he will be frightened, and he will return. And he will rage against the covenant of holiness, and he will act. And he will return, and he will attend to the forsakers of the covenant of holiness. 31 And arms from him will stand, and they will profane the sanctuary, the fortress. And they will remove the perpetual sacrifice, and they will set up the abomination making desolate. 32 And he will pollute with flatteries the wicked actors of the covenant. But the people knowing its God, they will be strong and act. 33 And the makers wise of the people will make many understand. But they will stumble by the sword and by flame, by captivity and by plunder, for days. 34 And when they stumble, they will be helped, with a little help. And many will join themselves with them by intrigues. 35 And some of the ones making wise will stumble to refine and to purify and to whiten them until the time of the end. For, it is still for the appointed time.

36 And the king will act according to his desire. And he will exalt himself and magnify himself above every god. And he will speak astonishing, things against the God of gods. And he will prosper until the indignation finishes. For what is decreed will be done. 37 And to the gods of his fathers and to the desire of women, he will not attend. And he will not attend to any god, for he will magnify himself above all. 38 But in its place he will honor a god of fortresses. 40 And at the time of the end, the king of the south will gore together with him. But the king of the north will storm himself against him with chariotry and with horsemen, and with many ships. But these will escape from his hand: Edom and Moab and the first of the sons of Ammon. 42 And he will stretch out his hand against the lands, and the land of Egypt will not be an escape. 43 And he will rule over the treasures of gold and silver and over all of the delights of Egypt. And the Libyans and the Cushites will be in his steps. 44 But reports from the east and from the north will terrify him, and he will go out in great heat to destroy and to devote many. 45 And he will plant the tents of his palace between the seas, to the mountain of the beauty of holiness. But he will come to his end, and no one will be helping him.

12 And at that time, Michael, the great prince standing over the sons of your people, will stand. And a time of distress will be that has not been from the being of a nation until that time.
